Spike won’t die because the actor has been saying he’d love to continue on Buffy shows, and he’s be perfect to spin off to Angel. If THAT one survives.
With all the talk about Angel going in “an entirely new direction” next year, I’m beginning to suspect that Buffy will end with the Hellmouth being closed. And if that happened, I could see all the vampires in the world being changed back into humans, which would remove the need for a Slayer and allow Buffy to finally retire. And that would also fulfill the prophecy from “To Shansu in L.A.” that Angel would finally be made human again. I’m not sure what that would leave for the next season of Angel–human versions of Angel and Spike doing actual detective work instead of fighting supernatural monsters? Could be interesting, could be disastrous.
Like I said, these are just guesses, and I don’t want to know if I’m right (or close) or not. Just speculatin’.

Yeah, but he’s been talking it up so much, I’m wondering if Marsters is just trying to throw everyone off. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him turn to dust in the series finale. The writers are certainly setting him up for some sort of heroic sacrifice. He’s one of the most popular (if not the most popular) characters on in the history of the show - so you’d think Whedon would keep him around for future stuff. However, Whedon does like to mix it up.
That’s true, although I would think if Spike was going to be dusted, it wouldn’t be in the finale because then we couldn’t see Buffy get into a reaction on the next show.
However, I hope you’re right. I really want to see Spike go down in flames to save everyone. It’s what I’ve been hoping for since he turned good.

Does anyone know if the last episode is going to be a two-hour show, of am I just in wishful thinking-mode? Sis, you done went and spoiled yourself. Without giving anything away, do you like how it ends?
From what I undertand, we’re looking at one hour only. Which pisses me off because hi? We were subjected to the stoopidness that was two to go and grave last year. Meh.
Do I like it? Well, there’s still speculation going around in the spoiled community as to whether or not the ending really IS the ending. If it is really, really true, half of what the cast and Joss has said is total and complete lies and they’re reallllly helping cover it up. If its not true, then I don’t know what to think. But do I like it? It fits. Thats all I can really say.
Oh, and another bit o’ speculation - I think Dawn might actually already be a slayer. They’ve ruled out her being a potential, but she does have the Buffy blood and some chops when tested in battle.

prals, so you didn’t like the season ender last year? Or just the way the UPN spaced the final episodes out and then played two in one night? I think the ending to last season wasn’t all that great, but it contains stuff I love.
I love PARTS of it, and I indeed liked the two-parter in one night, BUT I don’t understand why they’re doing it for season 6 and not the last season.
But from what I hear its because they want to keep airing that other drama.
I’m not sure that fits.

Do vampires really hinge on the Hellmouth being around? I know they’re drawn to it, but it’s not sustaining vampires in the world, from everything I’ve seen.
I personally don’t believe Buffy will get to retire. She won’t be killed, and all evil won’t be gone from the world. She’ll continue in some form or another.
Also, if we remember from the past, not ALL slayers were Hellmouth gaurdian. AND there were other hellmouths elsewhere (just watched “The Wish” the other day and there’s one in Cleveland. Which would explain Mimi)

There might be more than one Hellmouth, but maybe they all lead to the same location. And maybe if that location is destroyed, all of the Hellmouths will be destroyed with it…

Actually, I have to give credit to my boyfriend for that one. I’ve been “schooling” him on Buffy (a minimum tolerance for my Buffy addcition being one of the PRIME requirements for dating me) and we were watching the wish and when Giles is on the phone with Buffy’s “then watcher” he says “Yes, I REALLIZE there is heavy demonic activity in Cleveland” My boyfriend goes “So that explains Mimi.”

If that is so, don’t you think that maybe the Hellmouths would have been targeted a long time ago?
I’d imagine that whatever lies beyond the Hellmouth–Hell itself, presumably–is bound to be a pretty nasty place. Destroying it would probably be easier said than done.
Besides, it seems like most Slayers are reactionary agents–dealing with the current vampire crop, but doing very little to end the overall infestation. Maybe Buffy’s legacy will be that she was the only Slayer brave (or foolish) enough to take the fight to the Hellmouth itself.
Hell, I dunno. I’m just throwing out wild guesses here.
