Sorry for starting yet another Buffy thread, but I’d like to hear some guesses for the big series finale that’s going to be “impossibly big” and that “the fans are either going to love or hate.” I know there are spoilers out there on the internet, but please don’t post them in this thread. This is strictly for guesswork.
My prediction: Buffy will be faced with yet another “the only way to stop the apocalypse is for the Slayer to die” situation. Faith will take her place, dying to stop the First once and for all. With Faith dead, the Slayer’s powers will pass to one of the potentials, or possibly Dawn. Buffy will realize that her work has finished, and she’ll walk off into the sunset (powers intact, in case a Buffy movie ever materializes) with Spike.
Yeah - I’m staying away from spoilers. But Buffy will live, of course. As will, I’m hoping, Willow, Xander, and Giles. Actually, I wouldn’t mind if the next 5 episodes just featured the gang sitting around drinking coffee. I’d be upset to see anyone take a trip down death valley at this point.
Well the lack of a spinoff means a lot more people are up on the chopping block than before. We’ve never seen a ME series finale, so who knows how Joss likes to end things. Is he a ride off into the sunset happily ever after type of guy or an everyone dies (a la "Forever Knight" type.
I can’t see it all being roses, but I don’t think they will kill Faith. Not after her big “atonement means sticking around and fighting the good fight, not sacrificing yourself and taking the easy way out” moment on Angel last week. I’ve been a bit disappointed with this season, so I only hope they can pull out a great ending for the series. Otherwise, I might just hit myself in the head with blunt object until I can’t remember past season five.
Here’s something I’ve been thinking: they may kill off Dawn.
Remember the season 5 finale? There was a whole thing about Buffy being unwilling to sacrifice Dawn, even if it meant that the whole world would be destroyed. And now we have Buffy clashing with Giles over this same attitude, not being willing to sacrifice her friends for the greater good. Could this be the lesson Buffy has to learn in the arc of these last 5 episodes? It certainly fits in with alot that’s gone on this season. And then there’s that cryptic message that Ghost Joyce delivered to Dawn: “Buffy won’t choose you.”
I’m betting that Xander becomes a watcher. Although, since he has signed on for a non-ME comedy pilot, maybe he does bite the dust in the final episode. However, with all the attention paid to him “seeing” this season, I’m thinking that he becomes a watcher.
I have a strong feeling that Willow will sacrifice herself in order to once again be with Tara. I also have a feeling that Anya will once again become a demon in order to be strong enough to be of any real use in the final battle and will meet her end.
But Anya is already back to being a demon. However, I think you’re right - I think she’s going to buy it. Willow won’t die, I don’t think. Too much future Buffyverse potential. Plus, I think Whedon promised never to kill her off. Not that I believe that rascal…
I really hate the previews for episodes of Buffy. Like the one from last week for example. For some reason they try so hard to make it seem like its a new episode. Put the lame voice over in about how it’s the beginning of the final battle and how it was the last five episodes and all that, but it was really an episode from months ago. They did the same with that episode on two weeks ago where Spike was being controlled. They rearranged some of the scenes, put some voice over about “Spike goes back to the dark side” or something, and try to make it look like a new episode. Who the fuck do they think they are fooling?
Man, I guess I can’t remember - her character has been so MIA this season. She started out as a demon this season, and then the one dude revoked her demon status, turned her back into a human, and sent demon goons after her, right? I just forgot that she got turned back into a human.
