This show is already clearly in some alternate Superman universe. So why can’t Clark just reveal to Chloe or Lana or Lois and just get it on?
How are we supposed to root for Clark when he plays football against humans? Do you root for the college senior that is beating up a first grader?
I don’t know what I hate more: this show or myself for watching it.
Yeah, this episode was pretty retarded and pointless, but the scene with Lex playing the piano until his fingers bled was pretty cool. Other than that, pretty much a lost episode of Charmed.
It’s starting to look like Lionel is the new Pete.
At least next week’s episode is a Lex-centric episode. Plus, Jane Seymour! Yeah!
True, the magic vulnerability tie to established Superman continuity was nice, but that episode was ultimately forgettable. Honestly, I was embarrassed to watch it. I kept flipping back over to Lost even though I was recording it on a different TV.
Instead of letting the ladies ham it up as witches (two weeks late for Halloween even), they could’ve played things for laughs to balance out the “lost Charmed” feel as mentioned earlier. They missed an opportunity with the interviewer from Princeton in my opinion. What even happened to him?

Where did the blood loogie come from? Did Isabel bite her tongue and then spit?
Is Chloe so popular to have that many people come to her surprise party? Or did all those people show just because Clark is the popular star quarterback and it’s his farm?
What’s with the escalating trend of sexuality in Smallville? I’m no prude but it seems out of place. Does the WB think sweeps equals sex?
If Kal-El was sent to earth to conquer, why couldn’t one of the Kryptonians who visited Earth in the past 400 years have done it?

I never thought I’d be complaining about realism in a show about an alien super-hero but that last episode… wow. I just hope the whole story line gets shrugged off as a belated halloween tangent and is never spoken of again. I had to fast-forward everytime the witches opened their mouths because it was so painful to watch/hear.
I don’t expect shakespeare here but christ, the writers of this one should be shot.
Makes ya wonder how he gets haircuts.

That was, without a doubt, the worst episode they’ve ever done. There weren’t even any contenders that achieve this level of crap. Most tv shows tend to decline over time but I’ve never seen a program go from reasonably good to utter disaster in one episode. This one was so bad a new scale has to be made just to judge it.
Again, I (unlike many here) actually enjoy this show for the most part so I pray to god the powers that be just treat this like a halloween episode and pretend it never happened.

lol, I thought the same thing. When her tat started glowing at the end of the show I thought, “ok, they’ll make it disappear and we’ll know this was just a bad dream”. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. I can seriously understand the desire to make lana a more powerful character but really… she’s a witch? The whole “unexpected magic powers” territory has already been dissected by Joss wheaton (and in that alternate universe it made some sense).
Even mentioning how badly the concept of this episode fits in the superman series is redundant. Saying, “this show doesn’t fit” is as vast an understatement as saying, “the ocean is somewhat damp”.

I believe that ‘Velocity’ was the worst episode they have ever done. Pete finally gets an episode all about him, and it’s the biggest turd they could possibly concoct. Thus, ‘Spell’ is the 2nd worst.
And the whole witch thing isn’t going anywhere in the forseeable future. Next week’s episode, ‘Bound,’ brings in Jane Seymour as Jason’s mom. Apparently, Lana has literally had nightmares about this woman, and she claims she was at the museum when the inking took place.
Perry’s supposed to be back sometime this season, possibly with Jimmy Olsen. And don’t worry, fellas. Lois will be back in the next episode, and will be around for the rest of the season.
I actually liked this one a lot.
We all know lex has to become the villain at some point and I thought this transition between the “evil father” to the “evil son” was well done.
TV by it’s very nature has to stretch this series out so it’s a hit and miss thing for me but I find the good guy/bad guy dynamic between clark and lex really stands out. Too bad it gets filled in with so much unnecessary crap, I hope a superman movie that covers his youth gets made because there’s some really great shit here.
Am I the only one who couldn’t drum up any sympathy for the “victim”? Otherwise, a decent episode, even if it had more witches in it.
And while were talking about general gripes, it always bugged me that Clark is Superman before even dawning his cape and tights. This was their oppurtunity to show a young Clark Kent learn the values he holds dear, but instead, any morally ambiguos or objectionable act he takes part in is immediately excused by some sort of ridiculous plot device.
Just seems like a missed oppurtunity.
I saw this on Wednesday. It was funny to find out that Chloe wasn’t a virgin, and that she lost her virginity to Jimmy Olsen. Other than that, not much happenned. Alicia is hot, though.
Lois returns next week, and remains for the rest of the season, possibly becoming a full-fledged cast member for season 5.
And, of course, as shown in the preview, someone finds out Clark’s secret. I already know who it is {SPOILERS>Chloe<SPOILERS}, and this person will not be killed off, nor will they have their memories erased in some freak accident. They will be the new Pete.
I really think the past couple of episodes worked, and am glad that there was a one month hiatus. I’ve almost forgotten all about Lana getting her “wicca” on.

last weeks episode. the girl Clark married, who was killed, whatever her name was, set him up to use his powers in front of Chloe without him knowing it. she was shown at the end of the episode mulling over Clark’s press clippings on the Wall of Wierd. Chloe hasn’t said anything to Clark yet but her conversations with him, as shown last night, have been hinting to him that she knows.
last weeks episode, Pariah, marked the point where they were no longer apologetic about the villian of the week. he appeared, was totally obvious from the onset and felt no reason to explain why he had the powers he had. it seem they did it this week. in the past they made these huge leaps of logic (she was in the throes of passion when the meteors hit, she eats plants grown in meteor rock) to explain how the powers were gotten. they’ve established that just being from Smallville automatically allows you to have some odd power.
wtf are the ratings for this show. i haven’t watched it in ages since lost came on. just curious what the rest of the country is doing.
Well The Recruit was awful annoying, it was like tact went right out the window. Although I admit it was fun to watch the Smallville take off on He Got Game.

it’s been that way all season, from Lana’s shower scene in the first episode they haven’t looked back. each week they find yet another reason to show as much skin as possible. the week where Clark was in Vegas getting ready to have sex, at the same time Lana was giving herself over to ber beau, it was obvious that they weren’t about to get bashful abou it.
