I think we gave Heroes a bit of leeway because of its premise. But after suffering about 3 Seasons of this crap, my tolerance for it has came to an end as well.
Though after catching bits and pieces of the Season 4, I have to say there are some minor improvements now. Peter at least seems tolerable now.
House is another series I gave up on. It’s a one trick pony. Can you imagine any Hospital putting up with the crap House does? Over 80 episodes of House being mean and sarcastic gets boring after a while.
This obviously doesn’t count under break ups, but I know people who are refusing to even get into a relationship with Lost, just because everyone else is into it. They’re usually the same people refusing Macs and Facebook.
I’m really close to being done with Fringe. The characters are nothing but a collection of ticks and eccentricities and no matter how wacky things get, there’s just something too damn deliberate and soulless about it.
SMALLVILLE has been my abusive husband for years but after episode one of the new season I’ve finally plucked up the courage to ditch the ungrateful bastard. Should have done it about six years ago but oh well.
I’ll stick with HOUSE for the time being, though the BS with James Earl Jones as Idi Amin left me distinctly unimpressed. There’s heightened reality…and then there’s Looney Tunes. Especially bad considering the promising openers.

This. After the long wait for Season 3 to hit DVD, this was such a letdown.
This is kinda embarrassing to admit, but I used to watch ‘Bones’ pretty regularly. It was a reliably fun, dumb distraction and featured oddly copious amounts of gore for a show ostensibly geared towards 13 year old girls. Don’t know what the hell happened between last season and this, but holy shit, ‘Bones’ is suffering from some of the most horrendous writing imaginable. Granted, it was never “The Wire” or whatever, but it was never this consistently, aggressively stupid.
I’m breaking up with Heroes at this very moment. I’ve only ever watched it on DVD - thought the first season was a honking big pile of dumb, but at least I got sort of attached to a few of the characters and hey, I had to see if Peter blew up New York City. The second season, I don’t know, it was just so mind bogglingly stupid, I hate to bring up that tired car crash analogy, but I just could. not. look. away. Right now the family is in the living room watching episode five of season three and I have decided that I have had enough. The embarrassment I feel for everyone involved in that show is too overwhelming to derive any sort of pleasure from it anymore.
Office. Tired of the crazy shit they have Scott doing, it just isn’t believable anymore…
Dollhouse. It irked me they kept this over Terminator.
FastForward. OK, so I never watched it but I did DVR every episode so far and erase is looking good.
American Idol. I miss Paula and the shit hasn’t even aired yet… Simon has become boring, the singers have become repetative and if I hear “dog” one more fucking time I’m going to pound a nail into my skull.
There are probably more but … after typing American Idol I’m all irked now.

As for Dexter… after getting burned 2 seasons in a row with shit writing and VERY weak endings, I’m surprised anyone was still interested in a 3rd season at all. Oh… I forgot the metaphor… Dexter gave me Gonorrhea TWICE… why go back for a third time?
I broke up with every TV show I was committed to with one exception.
Star Trek: Voyager - A kooky one. Gave up after the pilot. Got back on Season 3 and 4. Finally broke up for good during Season 5. It just got repetitive. It felt like we never made progress.
Smallville - Damn I used to like it a lot. Had a good cast behind it. I started having issues with it on Season 4. Once Clark Kent murdered Pa Kent, the relationship was doomed. By Season 6 I walked off for good. Seeing that it’s still on its 9th season and nothing notable seems to have happened from what I read, I’m better off.
Heroes - Started off nicely doing a whole marathon of Season 1 on iTunes. I was ready for more. Three episodes in Season 2, it’s not that it was bad, it was okay, but I was no longer interested. Never looked back.
I think FlashForward and I are gonna break up. Pilot was fine, episode 2 was okay, but I missed out on the third and am not sure if I wanna bother catching up. I’ll try though.
Me and Lost have been just fine ever since the Season One DVD marathon.

Actually I love Erica Durance’s take on Lois. I know her introduction probably was the straw that broke the camel’s back for a lot of comic book purists, but damn shes the type of girl I like, which makes it hard to resist.
If they introduced Lex to Clark in the first episode I’m sure there is some plan that will justify everything. I hope its good enough to justify me sneaking an hour off on the weekend to watch an episode.
Heroes is the only show I stuck with for a while that really comes to mind. Well, maybe The Office, due to only having a half hour to spare on Thursdays, and having absolute loyalty to 30 Rock UNTIL THE END.
Flashforward doesn’t really count, since I never got beyond the pilot. But I really did mean to, it’s just, the more I thought about it, the less I liked it.
I’m staying with Glee, Modern Family, and Community, though, dammit.

I think you should give episode three a try. I think that if the end of the episode doesn’t convince you to keep up, then you might as well quit. But I was kind of on the fence also, but for now I am quite a bit more sold. I’m actually thinking about going and watching the end on the DVR because it’s just… just go watch it.

Already saw it, didn’t help. And while the ending intrugues me, I can’t help but think if this is what the rest will be like: Nothing interesting happening until the final 30 seconds. However I’ve given some thought and now feel that perhaps I’ll stick with the show and once Winter hiatus starts I’ll see if I want to continue when it returns. It’s a fair chance at least, I’d really like to see this show soar with its premise.

I’m with you there. Your feelings totally reflect mine of Heroes, and I wound up dropping it like it’s hot (is that term still being used?).
The fact that people have stuck with HEROES and SMALLVILLE for so long really speaks to the fact that fans want superheroes on TV. Imagine if they actually made a GOOD superhero show.
