Is it weird that Dr. Elliot Reed just got hotter to me when I found out she was a Republican? I feel dirty.
She mentioned she was Republican ages ago but this is the first time they went all-out with it. The “His/Her Story” episodes always turn out great, which I guess is kind of a reassuring thing if they keep the show going without Braff. Jenkins killed it big time. Really great episode.
Great episode all around. The storyline really hit home with the wounded soldier. The guy wouldn’t be treated in a civilian hospital though. Nitpicking aside, Kelso being fleshed out a little bit more is just awesome stuff. Does the name of his gay son change? I feel like I’ve heard him have two other names to go by.
Did Kelso say his son needed a new “power bottom”? Because that cracked me up.
Also: Slagathor. Priceless.
Slagathor was the bit that I found the funniest. I was laughing very loudly at that one for quite a while.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner.
They are really pissing me off this season with this pregancy storyline shit.
That little kid gets some great moments, first it’s “My mommy had an abortion” and now “Man Check”.
I thought tonight was the first time they really found something to do with the pregencies (as opposed to having normal storylines, with some awkward references to the pregnencies sprinkled in), and found it to be pretty effective. I guess it’s since this show’s never really done pull-the-rug-out-from-under-you twists, but I was caught off guard by Kim lying about the miscarriage.
Plus, the road trip was classic.
I thought the Jordan/Perry pregnancy storyline was WAY better than the Kim/J.D. one tonight. My problem with the J.D. storyline is that they can’t make up their mind about what they want to do with it – are they going to get together, are they going to stay apart and have the kid, no kid, there’s a kid but J.D. doesn’t know about it, we’ve been through too many permutations and the whole thing has felt emotionally false since they decided to have the kid in the first place, which is saying something for such a normally true show like this one.
J.D.'s storyline, too, is annoying me, because it doesn’t seem like J.D. has gone or is going through any real change. The guy is clearly not ready to raise a kid, but one of the reasons I was looking forward to this storyline is because I thought they could do a great job addressing that very issue. I guess I just feel that the character needs to grow up, frankly. He’s what, 31 now, in the show? All his friends are moving on with their lives – getting better jobs that they love, getting their own houses and apartments, having children – and he seems content to do the same thing he’s always done and be an immature manchild much of the time. The scene with the tent was supposed to be played for laughs, but tonight, it just seemed pathetic.
Maybe there’s a point to all of it. Maybe Kim lied because she doesn’t see JD as mature enough. Of course that’s the biggest apologist argument possible, based on a random “perhaps.” (But Rath’s assessment seems pretty dead-on).
I didn’t expect the twist, but I don’t know how necessary it is. I’m not sure how to judge it until I see how it plays out.
On the other hand, and this is even more lame and baseless, maybe J.D. 's storyline has stalled because no one was sure what Braff’s plans were for next season. I read last year, that this story was supposed to be done in the first 3 episodes of the season. But then it seemed to get extended when Braff appeared unlikely to come back. The baby storyline with Kim seemed like a perfect out with J.D. moving up there to be with her, but now that it looks like Braff could possibly around for season 7, the writers shifted gears to accomodate. I don’t know, that’s a flakey theory, but I’m just throwing it out there.
That whole miscarriage-lie thing was insanely fucked up. I have no idea how they’re going to play that out.
But other than that, this episode was pretty hilarious.
I get the feeling that maybe Kim’s baby isnt J.D. One thing they haven’t touched on his how J.D. got along with his own father.
JD’s dad (played by John Ritter) actually was in a few episodes. And there was that whole thing about him dying.
Basically, JD’s dad of one of those “buddy” dads and not a real dad.
J.D.'s mom and dad are divorced–he’s dad was a traveling salesman and as such was rarely around. When he was around, like Kueller said, he was a “buddy” dad, and in the episodes featuring Ritter, his dad only came to visit because he couldn’t afford a hotel room.
You could write a whole paper on ‘Scrubs’ and daddy issues. Father/child stuff is coming up a LOT this season.
It’s really kind of sad that I can see the end of this show from a mile away.
Kim having the baby and JD moving to Washington to be close to his baby and getting back together with Kim. Evil but that is now the show ends
That’s only if the show ends this season. It’s very much possible it’ll get renewed for next year.

I thought this week was really good. I like the idea of trying to make JD grow up a little. I don’t think it means he can’t be funny or quirky anymore.
At first I was worried that the show wouldn’t be the Show without JD but they’ve done such a good job with pumping up the other characters, Turk especially, that I really wouldn’t mind if the show went on without him.
TheToddTime.com is horrifying.
