Sounds like you can’t even fire Horatio Sanz.. he just keeps coming back.
Horatio Sanz and Joe Lieberman could try to start their own show in New Hampshire. Kind of like “Fernwood 2 Night”, just lamer.
Shit, that’s the first I’ve heard about Kenan Thompson getting the boot. He is one of the most funniest guys on that show.
The last two seaosns of that show have been a lot more enjoyable than they should have been. I hope they manage to keep as many as possible.
I really hope that Will Forte isn’t leaving. He’s one of the funniest people on the show. But I’m all for Horatio leaving. The guy is fucking horribly unfunny. The only skit I like him in is the RICK skit, for the simple fact that he doesn’t really do much and for once hardly breaks the fourth wall by laughing during the skit.
Sanz is one of the major reasons I just can’t watch this show any more. He’s just that horrible. The only way to get me back every night is if they fired him on air.
I’d be there for life.
Forte and Myers need to stay and continue to be the forefront of most of the segments. They’re golden.
Sanz must have some juicy blackmail on Lorne.
From what I here, Meyers is the new head writer now that Fey’s gone, so he’s pretty much locked. Lorne’s said there will only be 10 cast members this season, which means in addition to Fey and Dratch (who have already left), 4 more people will be cut.
Honestly, I can’t see a way in hell that they’d cut Forte, unless he quit. I feel the same way about Parnell, especially with the success of Lazy Sunday. Sanz has to be cut though. In addition too just being unfunny, he’s become stale. The whole “wacky fat guy” schtick, complete with bursting out laughing in every sketch, is just tired.
They’ll probably hang onto the new, cheaper folks. I think Samberg is better with single-camera, though. Hader hasn’t shown much range beyond the Pacino impression, and he apes Dan Aykroyd’s vocal patterns too much. Wiig has a lot of potential: I’m glad the Two A-Holes sketch hasn’t been run into the ground yet.
If the fact that the only way this show gets laughs these days is by the actors breaking up during sketches wasn’t reason enough to put this out to pasture, 32 seasons?!? Lorne, let it end.
I remember watching the first season after all of the originals had left, 1980 I think? Even as a kid I wondered how long this shit was going to last.
It was fucking awful. Gilbert Gotfried, that midget girl from Dream On, Charles Rocket, doing these horrible, seemingly unending sketches that had no point and zero jokes. The audience seemed to laugh out of pity and hope that it would end sooner. Even the hosts were lame. Karen Black is not A list talent. Nor was the musical guests, Dexie’s Midnight Runners, yeah right.
Of course, like they always do, they shake things up and get some talented writers and performers and all is well again. Same deal here.
Sanz is terrible. Pot jokes aren’t funny. I hate pot smokers and pot humor is predictable so I’ll be glad never to see that shit again. His Elton John appearances were too often and not that funny and his attempts to play the Chris Farley role of fat buffoon was tiresome.
Harvey Korman should get royalty checks for as many times as he breaks up during an on-air scene. Sometimes it was funny, most of the time it came off as desperation.
Sandberg is funny, Amy Polar is great, Myers is obnoxious, I forget who the rest are.
Looking forward to a funny season.
Forte is going to be one of the only reasons to watch if this is true. I like Pohler OK but she’s becoming a bit grating. When I first saw Andy Samberg I thought, “Damn, I’m going to want to punch this guy in the face every week,” but he’s been surprisingly funny. Still, he’s a recurring character away from face-punching.
I heven’t found the show funny in a few years, but maybe I’ll give it a shot again.
I heard a report saying Forte was getting fired, which made absolutely no sense im my opinion as he’s one of the only decent cast members. Fred Armisen can be pretty hilarious, but the female have consistently been the go-to cast members for a couple seasons, and they’re all leaving it seems. Poehler is staying though, which is great.
I think they should jettison pretty much the whole lot besides. Lorne has been getting a ton of duds in the features players the last few years. Samberg is fine, but besides him, not a lot to like. Kenan Thompson always has this goofy, “I’m on TV” smirk to him no matter what character he plays that it terribly annoying. Like he’s still on “All That” or something. Boot him.
They need a major cast overhaul, and this is the perfect time.
Of the three “new” guys lst year, Sandberg was my least favorite. I thought the digital shorts were “eh” and that was he only real contribution on screen. On the other hand, my dislike has grown since people started hailing “Lazy Sunday” to be an “all-time sketch.” Pryor and Chase’s “Interview” is an all-time sketch, “Lazy Sunday” was funny, once. So some of my dislike is likely tied to my dislike of the reaction.
Parnell probably is the first out. While I find him funny, he’s been fired before and its an easy guess.
I’ve read speculation about Seth Meyers being out, which is wrong becuase he’s the head writer for the show and the head writer doesn’t get fired. Forte and Armisen are the best performers on the show and it’d be a shame to see either go.
I just don’t like any of the performers. Not that they can’t be funny, but I just don’t find them likeable. They bother me.
If Forte goes…the Falconer Goes…and that just can’t happen.
I am still consistently surprised that Amy Poehler continues with this show.
She is way too talented for this shit. I guess its kind of like being a guest on the Tonight Show. It has a pedigree, and therefore people watch, so you are going to get exposure. But if you actually want to get any respect in the industry, you go do Letterman or Conan. I guess that explains Poehler’s constant visits to the UCB theater throughout the week.
The UCB comedy central show is still fucking lightyears ahead of what they have been doing on SNL for the past 5 years.
Maybe Sanz tracks huge in the “loves Adam Sandler movies” demographic. How else do you explain it?!?
I like Sanz. I pretty much like all the performers. I just think that the writing is poor, for the most part.
I was surprised to see Sanz in the trailer for School for scoundrels.
