Queer Eye for the Straight Guy... Anyone watching?

Jay was obviously going for a different kind of laugh. What he didn’t realize was that the source of the show’s humor isn’t that the guys are gay, but that their subjects are clueless slobs. Instead of making it look like Jay was getting a make-over, he played it like they were trying to gay him up.
I eagerly await the Fab 5’s inevitable appearance on The Man Show.

Bunny Dracula is better than you: This brings up another thing what bugs me: when the Fab Five were on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, was it entirely neccessary for Jay to repeatedly hammer home the point that he was not gay…

I’ve always felt like Jay Leno’s show was too scripted and his interviews seemed staged, like he doesn’t have a say in what is being asked and so it becomes annoying.

Dave Letterman and Conan O’Brien, on the other hand, just wing it with their guests and it makes their shows that much better.

As for last night’s episode, I enjoyed it. The bit with Kyan and the spray-on tans was hilarious! I too was amazed that a guy like that had a girlfriend like that.

The cop is in a little hot water.

That was the funniest part of the show. It would be a shame if he really got in trouble for that.

Freeze! You are under arrest for bad fashion. Cuff him boys!

Did anyone catch last night’s ep with Fabio? That guy was hilarious. With his hair cut, he sort of looked like Stephen Baldwin. I hope he got some play with that one chick. She was so hot for him.

You could tell, cuz she touched her titty.

They are re-running an older episode tonight which is a good one. It’s a married Jewish guy named Adam. He has a unibrow and a horribly unkempt house and wardrobe and the guys really help him score.

Also, this bit of news was in this morning’s Hollywood Reporter:

Quote:

Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," that most unlikely of TV hits in America, now seems set to become a huge international export for NBC and Bravo. A groundbreaking deal that closed Monday with Australia’s Network Ten heads up a slew of global sales currently being signed…

The Fab 5 are only making $3,000 an episode. Whoa!!!

They’ll renegotiate next season. I don’t think anyone really expected the show to take off like it did.

Exactly. I mean who watched the Bravo channel before this show?

On a seperate note, they reaired the first episode and they had a black guy as part of the Fab Five. What happened that they had to replace him with Jai?

Bump.

Looks like a new episode is on tonight. Their next target is a divorced dad named Tom M. Can’t wait for it. I’m on Pacific Standard time, so I don’t know when the East Coast chewers see this show on Bravo.

I think this is my favorite episode. The Fab 5 were cracking jokes left and righht. I couldn’t stop laughing.

“What a difference a gay makes!” – Carson

Only 23 more minutes until they finally air the new episode tonight. Still can’t wait.

I watched and thought it was really funny.

At first I found the show to be really novel, but eventually I’m settling into the same routine I had.have with Trading Spaces. It’s an entertaining show, but at their core, they’re all the same show.

I think I’ve seen every episode so far, but don’t know if I’ll continue to tune in regularly. Just isn’t “must see” for me.

Last night’s episode was pretty funny. Kyan (the hair guy) and Ted (the food guy) are so uptight when things don’t go as they’d like. Has anyone else noticed this?

See my Smoking Gun link above to learn what happened to him, Deev.

A few of my favorite quotes from the latest new episode:

“Why is there a plastic food container in the closet?”

(Jai holds up a large, plastic toy sword, and it begins to play) “I HAVE THE POWER!!!”

“Those wings make your ass look so fierce!”

New episode tonight!

From the commercials:

“The fab five face their greatest challenge yet: GRAVITY! *cue Straight guy accidentally dropping several pieces of glass on floor*”.

I actually thought this was one of the best episodes I’ve seen. The guy was dopey but appropriate for all this. And it was funny how much of a trainwreck he turned out to be.

My favorite quote from the straight guy in this week’s new episode:

“They made me paid for it.” (After giving his girlfriend a nice, expensive necklace)

I can hear the wedding bells ringing now!

Bump. Did anyone watch the recent five hour marathon of the show recently? The order of the straight guys made over were:

  • John V. (The Port Authority Cop)
  • John B. (The Guy who proposed to his girlfriend)
  • Josh D. (The Guy who couldn’t dance)
  • Adam Z. (Forgot his wife’s birthday 8 times)
  • Tom M. (Single dad looking for a girlfriend)

I’m not sure if that’s the same order that they showed over in other areas other than the Pacific Coast. The marathon ran from 9pm to 1am. I only stood up to watch the first two episodes since I hadn’t seen the John V. episode in a while, and I always wanted to see the episode with the marriage proposal. I thought the marathon was well chosen, but they should have put in the buff, blond personal trainer George K, since he showed some of the most progress of the straight guys made over, plus the lady that was attracted to him was HOT. Oh well. Maybe next time.
