I don’t even know if I would call this a guilty pleasure. I am totally ashamed that I get enjoyment out of watching this show.
July 12th is the premiere, I believe.
I hate reality television, but I got caught up watching the first season because of a fledgling interest in fashion and, of course, some of the personalities stood out.
I caught a few episodes of the 2nd season but I couldn’t trick myself into staying w/ it, I’ve had my fill.
Is everyone but the cute blond chick and the black guy 40 years old? This year’s crop are some oldie-old timers.
Love the crazy New York lady (very Cruella DeVille); Michael Knight (the sole Black person); and the rock star guy (Santino redux). Heath(?) is cocky as hell and his win will not do much to bring him back down to earth; the guy with the faux British accent has to knock it off; and Vincent needs to own up to mistakes (admit to the judges that you thought the alien hat was awesome!). The rest are nameless, faceless fabric sewers.
The guy that won the challenge basically made a dress from a sheet - which, I mean, how boring compared to everyone else. I mean, the guy from Atlanta made a cool-looking dress from coffee filters. Guy (forget his name) is handsome though which is a) why he’s on the show ("I’ve never designed womens clothing before"
and b) why he won the challege, I imagine. The rock designer sucks, Diva. At least going by his outfit from last night. I like how people are already assholes. Why? Can you let the show film its first 10 mins before you start with the shitiness?
This and Deadwood are my two favorite shows right now.
I don’t particularly like the rocker guy’s design, just that he’s so out there (but out there in a way that’s not looney like Vincent). Like I said earlier, Santino redux. The show needs someone we love to hate.
Rocker guy has huge neck, small head. He tries to cover it up with a weird neck tattoo and that hoodie, which makes me feel sorry for him. But then he designs a dress that looks like a trash heap and brags about designing for J-Lo - I’m firmly not in his camp. Santino had talent. This guy seems like he just likes the 80s a lot.

Assholes or arrogant? Kind of a grey area I think. Most of these contestants are established designers (albeit in their own niche market). A certain sense of pride and arrogance should be somewhat expected.
Overall I can’t say I was very impressed with anyone. As far as innovation goes, most of them suck.

Yeah, I’m surprised at the credentials some of the contestants have this season.
Fake British accent guy is funny. The best design was the guy who did the short white dress with the red bows in back (he was top three).
“Heidi Speaks!” should be a half hour comedy show.
Did anybody else notice the disclaimer at the end of the show which says the producers have an input on who gets eliminated. It is not just the judges scores. This dissapoints me a little and explains why the guy with the basket hat didnt get voted off. He is good for ratings. Still LOVE the show!!!
Yeah - I noticed that last season too. It sucks, but the judges have fucked up reasons anyway for giving people passes, I think. It’s like they don’t take the challenge into consideration sometimes. For example, and I said this a few posts back, they gave the win to the guy who used a sheet to make his dress. The challenge was to use anything in the apartment and some of the designers got really creative.
Anyway, the guy with the basket hat deserved a pass. Once the hated hat was stricken from model, and you could focus on the actual dress, what he came up with looked pretty cool, I thought.

I absolutely love the show too!! My Uncle actually teaches at FIT in NY and Daniel V was one of his students!! Back to season 3, tho, I think the guy who made the dress out of coffee filters should have won the challenge!!!
Is the “fake British accent guy” really faking his accent? My sister swears he’s a complete phoney, but it didn’t sound fake to me.
According to the website he was born in Tawain and traveled the globe with his parents as a kid, but he lists his hometown as Queens, NY.

I really expected Angela to go home, but it makes sense that they would send home whomever’s design concept it was. I loved both Kayne and Uli’s dresses. It was hard for me to pick between them, although I think the jewels on Kayne’s made his a bit more classy and thus the winner. Laura’s dress was gorgeous, but not all that inspired.
On a seperate note, didn’t the previews from last week show Tim Gunn saying he was kicking someone off the show this week for cheating? What’s up with the false advertising?
Sad to see Malan go. As odd as he came off at first, he seemed like he was enjoying the experience and the people - rather than hating both. I would have liked to see Angela go because she acts like she’s on Survivor and can’t sketch, but it would have been odd to see someone go over a dress they had nothing to do with. Still, she came off pretty poorly. The high drama of the show kind of annoys me, honestly. But I like seeing people designing clothes and then that shit being walked around in. Yes - I realize how sad it sounds.

They have been showing that clip in the previews since before the season even started. It’s the “dramatic” clip to get people interested. I imagine it’s from a mid/end season episode.
Shame to see Malan go so early.
I liked Malan and thought Vincent’s dress looked stupid. They played the “I’m going to have to ask you to leave” clip for the teaser after the previous episode, so I also thought it was coming up this episode. I guess they’ll milk it occasionally until it actually happens.

Funny that the guy who stitched a top together in the last hour just so he would have something to throw on his model finished top three. He also didn’t have anything on his dog but a scrap of fabric tied around its neck.
Yeah, I would love to see the reaction of the judges seeing that the guy had no fucking clue what he was doing.
