First off, please stop spoiling the cast for those who would like to watch the show naturally and be surprised.
Second, I know what he has in his head, too. It’s a foolhardy notion that he’s part of some great dramatic troupe that happens to be perfect for any roles in his films. That’s plain stupid. It doesn’t matter how good an actor or actress you are if you’re not right for the part. And I know there are countless actors who could do those roles as good, if not better than his family members, yet be more marketable as well so that the film has a better chance of succeeding.
Not only is Hollywood his enemy, but common sense is as well. Shit, Spike Lee’s family is filled with actors. So is Francis Ford Coppola’s. And both men have lived to regret casting family members and loved ones in starring roles.
Yeah I agree with Micah Gulager is shooting himself in the foot here.
This movie is on shaky ground already so he really should be playing the politician here a bit more.
What I really don’t understand is how the guy couldn’t have looked at anyone else seriously. I mean sure you have your favorites but have some backup choices as well.
This guy is learning the hard way and its going to get a lot uglier.

My favorite part of this week was when Gulager made an ass out of himself by doing a “hey…I’m on TV” thing when his brother was on camera.
I just don’t know how anyone in their right mind thinks they can win a contest and then cast their friends and family in the role. Maybe if Gulager and his dad had completed some of those features they started, then they could go around as an acting troupe/film company.
And the screenwriters are very annoying, especially laughing guy. I was sick of him before they announced Feast as the winner.
“But I made all my movies in my living room and back yard! Why can’t I make Feast there too!? It’s not my movie anymore!!”
Man, as creepy and wrong-headed as Gulager’s showing to be, I honestly can’t help but feel sorry for the guy. He’s been so locked into his homemade patterns of amateur – not “indie” but amateur – filmmaking he just cannot comprehend how a movie can be made any other way. (Kinda speaks to the autism theory.) The poor doofus is just in way over his head.
As for the TV show’s success, *buzzer sound*, it ain’t happening this year. Going by this morning’s paper, moving to basic cable and a genre movie only logged the PG season debut ~311,000 viewers, as opposed to the first season’s 2 mil and the second’s 3.5.
The prospects for a PG IV are looking dimmer and dimmer.

Wrong. I saw the first two seasons and paid to see both films on the big screen.
Despite the Ricky Gervais looking one’s unfunny schtick, I’ll say one thing for these two screenwriters at least for right now they seem more than willing to buckle down and work on their script to get it the best and most marketable they can make it. As for Gulager, he’s being nothing more than a passive aggressive asshole. Loved at the end when he tried to blame the casting director for his troubles and she just turned right around and slapped him down. Also did you see the reaction on his face when he was told yes it was possible to be fired from this movie. That was the look of a man who has been fired before and was going into this gig with the false belief he couldn’t be fired no matter what he did this time. I thought the Henry Rollins quick scene of him auditioning for a part was funny. Here was the legendary punk artist who on his IFC channel show has been moaning and pissing about mainstream Hollywood and now he’s trying to get a part in a low-budget horror movie made by a division of one of the biggest Hollywood machines. Hypocrite.

my guess is the PGs ratings are kind of sucking because it’s on Bravo (maybe if NBC offered some advertising for it on their main network…) - plus, i kept waiting for the show to air and it seemed like forever before it finally did…
i don’t understand why the studios bellyache over losing a couple of million for the sake of giving a couple suckers a chance at making a movie (it’s a brilliant idea for a reality show, really) … my god, studios make CRAP more often than not… and not for the sake of a reality show or giving some schmo a chance at stardom…
the first script meeting… that guy, at least as it was edited, had nothing positive to bring to the table… “you will rewrite this script and if you won’t we will replace you” … wow, ok… but yea, the writers do seem like hard workers… i think the biggest problem when they pick these directors is that they’re all so used to working alone and doing everything themselves that they don’t get the whole studio-has-your-balls game they need to play…
I was glad when Gulager was picked, but to start the “everyone is against me” shit from the get go is just bad form. Good TV, but I will be shocked if the movie isn’t crap.
I read the other day that Wes Craven optioned “Wildcard” and Affleck himself bought “Remember When…Time Travel”. Quite amusing that the two scripts that didn’t win will easily become better, more viable movies than Feast will.
I got to wonder - if Matt Damon really, really wanted the best script to win why would he not offer to star in the movie at cost (so they could afford him)? He loves the script but does not trust the contest enough to risk his box office for? Just a thought. His presence alone would help the movie make at least the original budget back.

People seem to forget that Project Greenlight is a bit of a Faustian bargain. “Winning” means that you get to have every mistake amplified and edited for maximum impact in front of a national audience, while everything you do right ends up on the cutting room floor, for the most part.
You get to make a cheap movie that fails, plus get a rep as an incompetent fool and/or a bastard.
Just check the IMDB credits for anyone who’s ever won. Erica Beeney. Pete Jones. Kyle and Efram. Wasteland.

Erica Beeney does have a career. She hasn’t gotten another thing into production quite, but she IS a working screenwriter having done “Gidget” for Sony last year, rewriting “New Sensation” at New Line and that TV show she just created with Gale Anne Hurd, “Corporate Spy” at Paramount. The writers of “Feast” are signed up at ICM and the script has been going around town as a lot of people dig it. I’m sure they’ll get their next movie sooner than later, too.
