Yeah, I’m really liking the new cast. Roache is great as the new ADA (although I am sick of seeing his damn PDA) and he’s even got the whole head twitching thing that Waterson has.
I’m still undecided on Sisto, but so far he seems allright (though I never saw a problem with Govich, so he doesn’t seem like an improvement, just a replacement).

Also, and I don’t know if anyone else noticed this, but the first ep had a very different feel in it’s direction (at least to me). I checked out the director (Allen Coulter) and lo and behold he’s directed a shitload of Sopranos, among other stuff.

It’s not even over yet but, holy shit, Erika Christensen sucks big time. I hope the “shocking ending” involves her dying in some fashion. Halfway through, I’d bet five bucks she’s somehow related to the killer (ZOMG, is he really dead?), maybe even done some of this stuff herself. Her character is totally off her rocker.

Man did Erika Christensen suck. My wife and I were appalled (yes, appalled)

Our bet was that her mentor was the Woodsman and she was taking up in his course, (thus Anne Doe freaking when she saw Christensen with the tools), but Wolf Dick’s twist ending blew, hard.

Last night’s show had a nice little ending, but I came to the conclusion a whole lot faster than the characters did. Best line last night?

“Tell me you were tying your shoe when he did that.”
“I was tying my shoe when he did that.”

That new ADA is like a young, Hispanic Hargitay. Works for me.

Then later when they see the guys they are looking for..

Lupo: “well it’s not us…”

Am I the only one sensing that McCoy doesn’t particularly like Cutter?

Yeah, that used that in the season teaser. I knew they wouldn’t disappoint.

Such a weird episode. They referenced all sorts of weird news stories from the past.

McCoy definitely doesn’t like Cutter. There’s a lot of Jack in Cutter and he doesn’t like the “competition”.

I think they put too much in last night’s episode. The “ripped from the headlines” thing usually works well on this show but they didn’t really integrate them well. The pants could have been one great episode, the toothpaste another. Smooshing them together didn’t work for me.

It all definitely seemed out of place. I think the pants couldn’t have stood on their own (har-har) so that’s why the put the two storylines together. Trick play!

…yeah, that was an over-stuffed episode. But dammit, if I didn’t enjoy it…

I dunno his smiling after talking to Cutter at the end makes me think he likes him a bit more than he lets on.

And 20 Million for a pair of pants…what a douche bag.

The last episode’s flaws notwithstanding, this is the best L&O I’ve seen in years. I thought Roache was a waste of space in Riddick and Batman, but last year he was terrific in Kidnapped and even better here. de la Garza is the best assistant ADA since Hennessey. As long as they can keep the scripts tight, it should be a great season. Or whenever they start writing again.

It’s funny because a good friend of mine (who I work with and life-long L&O fan/Dennis Farina-hater) immediately liked Lupo, but had to get into Cutter. And it was vice-versa for me. It was probably just all the backstory that Cyrus got the moment he showed up was a bit off putting (compared to other characters who just come and go!)

But I quiet like the character now; definitely grown on me. I still wish they’d have gotten Kurtwood Smith as one of the cops.

Anyone catch last weeks episode? Subprime mortgages, Prez from The Wire, and a lot of dead bodies made for a great episode. Loved when McCoy had the feds arrested.

It was great. Green’s horrified reaction to Lupo’s impromptu announcement that he’s a “socks on” man in the bedroom was killer.

I was going to complain that it’s been a long time since they’ve lost/blown a case, but I just caught last week’s episode. The little bit with her picture was an inventive little bit of maneuvering - although there’s no way I’d believe January Jones (isn’t she Tommy Lee’s daughter?) ever looked like that original photo they had of her. Loved that at the end of the episode, they had no idea who the hell she was…

This whole season has been pretty much aces - can’t really complain about any of the episodes so far. And I have to admit, I like the little insights into the characters that they’re showing us - it’s not much, but so far the little bits work and make them more interesting. It would really be great to get an episode like the one they had years back that showed all of the characters going through their day off after witnessing a criminal get the death penalty.

Also, there were some pretty interesting shots in this episode - I didn’t catch the director’s name, but I’d be willing to bet it’s the same person who did the first episode of the season.
