I got to say, the combination of Jesse Martin and Jeremy Sisto as the cops and Linus Roache and that other chick as the DAs, under the command of Battlin’ Jack McCoy as DA makes the mothership look really enticing.
I haven’t caught many episodes since junior year. Did they bother to properly set up McCoy as a politician or was it a spur of the moment “Oh shit, Fred Thompson thinks he presidential material!!” thing? They seemed to suggest the reason he’s been Assistant DA for so long is he plays to fast and loose and is too uncompromising for both private practice and politics.
yeah, can’t wait for the premier. We did get a taste of Jack being the DA in an episode of SVU a few weeks back. The mothership just hasn’t been the same since the Orbach left/died.
The end of the SUV last week was really weird. Hell, the whole episode was kind of bizarre.

I loved McCoy performance on SVU. He’s the one of the few tv lawyers that I enjoy.
Regarding SVU, I sort of enjoyed last week, but I can understand people finding it weird. Also does anyone hate Det. Lake as much as I do? And, how about CoCo’s guest-shot? Seriously, my tv now has two EE sized imprints.

Yeah, I’m looking forward to it, too. There’s a trailer (with an ad attached) at the NBC site which shows Sisto and Roache in action, as well as the newly terrifying visage of Lara Flynn Boyle.

McCoy was in the episode “Blinded” last month. He slapped Casey Novak around, and it was swell. Milena Govich was replaced for no reason that was presented for public consumption, but we’re getting Sisto as CYRUS LUPO instead, so I’m sure it’ll be okay.
Also, L&O will be returning to its old Wednesday 10:00 slot, from which it was unceremoniously evicted in 2006 because CSI:Sinise was eating its lunch; however, if the strike carries forward another couple of months, it will be one of a bare handful of network shows airing new episodes, so that might help.

The thing that really got me was the whole “I"m going to walk past Olivia like it’s no big thing then I’ll turn around and grab her like a drowning man reaches for a life vest” bit. The “will they-won’t they” thing between those two seems more inappropriate now that they’ve reintroduced Stabler’s wife and just had her pop another kid out.
Is Lake Adam Beach’s character? He’s okay, I guess. They should just rename him Det. Occasionally Useful Fact Provider, though.

I haven’t been watching SVU this season, except for the episode where Stabler was blinded. I switched it off as soon as they uttered the phrase “temporary blindness.” Bad form.
Yeah, SVU has kind of gone off the rails this season and I’m finding it really hard to follow it or even care. Granted, the fact that I’m usually drunk while I’m watching it probably doesn’t help, but I can’t imagine watching it sober would help much.
And I’ve been watching the mothershow for the past 15 years and I can’t wait for the new season to start! It’s still the best crime show on TV.
Screw CSI. It’s a fun franchise, but it’s all sizzle and no steak.

I think The Wire has secured that distinction, but I agree that L&O towers over the forensics shows like a monolith.
I like Cutter.
I like that they “appointed” Jack DA insted of having him win an election that he probably would lose.
Sisto is OK as Green’s new partner.
And I liked the twist at the end of the first episode with the dying declaration.

The ADA was pretty hot last season, but she is UNBELIEVABLY hot this season.

I was never into any of the L&O shows but I tuned in last night for Sisto and Roache. Made me miss Kidnapped even more. The episodes were pretty cool so I’ll tune in next week. And damn that ADA is smokin hot.

They didn’t really. The closest they came was a line about Jack being “appointed” to serve out the rest of Branch’s term.
I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t a two hour episode, but other than that, it was pretty good. Waterson as the new DA is good, especially since they needed some new blood to try the cases, and Roache seems more than able to fill those shoes. Martin & Sisto as partners also seems to be an excellent pairing.
It doesn’t really feel like there’s a weak link on the show this year (like Rohm or Govich were), and I read an interview with Wolf in my local paper that said they’re still filming episodes despite starting before the strike (although that was from about a month ago). That, along with being back on Wednesday nights, should help them find a pretty decent audience.
And yes, de la Garza is probably the prettiest face on TV at the moment. Doesn’t hurt that she actually seems like she can act, unlike the wooden performances that came from the two ladies I mentioned above. I may have posted this photo before in a previous L&O thread, but figured it couldn’t hurt again - I mean, DAMN!
