It's CHRISTMAS!

A classic Weird Al song (an early version, not the albumn version I’m familiar with) with a really nicely edited video.

As someone who lives within the initial DC bombblast, this has been on my Christmas playlist for literally decades.

12 days of Christmas, done by The James & Kling Awareness Project. I heard the song thru Dr.Demento’s show.

The lyrics are interesting and the singing is classic, the animation here is just to give you sumethin to look at I guess,

ignore the cartoon. Note how the gift threat levels go up as we get closer to that 12th day. Demento calls this

‘A Terrorist Christmas’.

The family and I attempted to drive to Boston Common park and use the underground parking garage last night so we could walk around and look at the trees lit up. It was and unmitigated disaster of an outing.

It took us an hour to get 3 miles across town. The lane to turn in to the garage was blocked, so we had to circle the block around the park, which took another half hour. The underground garage was designed with cubist principles. After stalking the lanes for a while and turning down a few dead ends, we concluded that there were no open spots in the garage. We gave up and went to dinner.

We survived with the car and our lives intact, despite the fact that half the people in Boston drive like Jack Bauer with a syringe of adrenaline in his heart.

(I was not consulted on the plan to drive to the Common and try to find parking at the same time a Bruins game was about to start. I was happy I didn’t end up having to walk around in the cold wind and stand and look at things.)

The dinner was nice, so it all worked out in the end. Fuck Boston Common, though.

UPDATED-yesterday, a day earlier than estimated, my cards printed by Shutterfly and delivered by UPS finally arrived!

And the original lost package was delivered too, looking like a truck ran over it. Big thanks to Shutterfly & lump-O-coal for UPS.

here wuz the final product –

AWhoever did this thing ought to commission an overdub, Bad Lip Reading style, but even subtitles-only it’s pretty fuckin funny.

I hope you weird and glorious fucks have a very Merry Christmas! (I can say that now so kiss my ass!)

Hopefully, I will talk to each and every one of you next year. I’m off to spend the last week of the year shit-hammered.

ATim Minchin has a Christmas song thats really great. Worth checking out if you haven’t seen it.

This one’s for you wd40!

AI love staying in L.A. for the holidays because the place becomes a ghost town. All the Midwestern and East Coast transplants fuck off and take their bad driving with them, leaving the freeways clear. It took me only 25 minutes to get from the Westside to North Hollywood yesterday. Normally for a trip like that, you have to go into suspended animation, or you’ll die of old age before you get there.

“Why would someone want to be pelted with excrement?”

I rate that headrug as 5% better than Seagal’s. Is the goatee fake too??

AIn the spirit of the creepy Christmas images all over this thread, here’s a YouTube radio drama I put together this year, just for fun (and to see if I could do it). It’s a very Lovecraft Christmas story.

This is just excellent!

Terrific production value, very strong writing, and energetic performances. You all nail that sort of “period sound” in the dialogue; heightened and theatrical in the best way.

AMerry Xmas you weirdos. It’s another stinking hot day and I’ve still got to get some last gifts, but I’ve got Die Hard and Raiders of the Lost Ark for later tonight. Hope you all have a great Xmas break.

AIt’s actually pleasantly cool here in AZ. To the point where I went out this week and bought a light hoodie. Only took until late December for it to get cool here.

Finished 90% of my shopping on Amazon. Then a wild goose chase for a late gift idea reminded me why I did it all online. The traffic, the people… all of it has me thinking that living in a small town might be something I should look into.

Anyway, I love you all! Hope those of you who celebrated Hanukkah had a kickass time, and those of you celebrating Christmas have an awesome long weekend!

AIt’s nice enough here that I bought a rack of ribs to throw on the grill tomorrow. A Christmas Eve BBQ!

AOh, and here’s a Christmas tune:

AI made bat-shaped cookies that don’t look like anything when you sloppily frost them like I did.

AMerry Christmas, assholes. My three day program of ‘nursing’ a can of Grolsch that’s actually five separate cans of Grolsch begins now.

Be well and take care of yourselves.
