I know that Family Guy got pretty weak as it wore on last season. Hopefully, the manatees will find some good new material and get some new idea balls.
Still, what I’ve seen thus far makes me hopeful. What have I seen? An Accused joke, which is always a good way to win me over.
Ya know, the show is nothing but sight-gags and non-sequiters with a thin plot in between; Airplane in animated form and that’s cool. I know a lot people hate that, but it works for me. With so many lousy shit-coms on the air, FG is refreshing in it’s mission to be funny… most of the time.
South Park was right in their parody, but funny is funny and FG was funnier than SP was last season for me. I’m a sucker for any joke aimed at Meg’s expense and Stewie singing the Mr. Belvedere theme at the top of his lungs is fried gold.
I just wish American Dad would get the fuck off my tv screen.
Here’s hoping they can start stronger than they ended last season.
Because…yes I’ll say it…The Simpsons kicked Family Guy’s ass most of last season…and American Dad owned both a couple of Sundays last season.
The commercial for season five with the proctologist joke is horrid.
Stewie may be the least likeable cartoon character ever. Not to mention the most broad and malleable.

Nothing like coming back with mockery of rape victims.

Yep. American Dad and Family Guy: If you want to laugh a few times in the course of an hour, this is the place to be.

It’s a sad state of affairs when American Dad is the best thing on a given channel Sunday night.
“Oh yeah…I’d friggin’ drop her ass.”
“That is so not cool.”
“I also have a map of Middle Earth and the guys from Primus.”
“Hey, you know how to get to town?”
“Right back the way you came.”
“Oh my God, I’m just like Barbara Bush!”

Peter’s post-rape whining out of the hospital, Stewie arguing with Brian in Spanish and all things Accused also got hysterical laughs out of me.
Pop culture references and cutaways were scaled WAY back this ep compared to last season. Good sign. Good episode. Here’s hoping this is what we can expect for the rest of the season.
Yeah, I counted three cutaways–four at most. That’s a great step back to classic Family Guy, and I felt this was a pretty solid premire because of it.
Oh, and the Barbara Bush crack killed me. Did not see that coming.
I did not care for the Barbara Bush joke, not because of any political affiliation, but because it felt so forced and awkward. The writers of Family Guy have always been pretty bad at political humor. Remember the “symbols of the Republican party” joke from season one?
The premiere was decent and here’s hoping they can keep this going for the rest of the season.
I laughed the most at Stewie doing his “mommy” montage, as my wife hears that every day from our 4 year old.
Not a bad premiere for the season. Peter running home naked with his pants down around his ankles was funny as well. “Get a tan!”
I laughed my ass off at the mirror thing with Peter. “Who ARE you? You’re DIRTY, Peter.”
I laughed more than I didn’t.
American Dad was crap…utter…utter crap.
Family Guy was OK. The “mom…mommy…ma…” exchange was excruciating awful.
However the finger references while over the top was funny, same with Peter running home with his pants down. Other than that it was just more of the same from last season, which is dissapointing.

Not if you have a kid, it’s not. It was frighteningly accurate. My son (who will be 5 in a week) does exactly the same thing to my wife every day.
Sunday was the final affirmation. The Venture Brothers really is the funniest animation on television right now.
I missed the premiere! I am going to have to catch up this week for sure! On another note, did anyone else hear that they are coming out with a video game based on the show? Should be pretty funny!

I’m sure it’s very accurate. That didn’t make it less annoying…and make me fast foreward thorught that part after the first 45 seconds.
That was a fucking solid episode. Very funny.
I have a question regarding American Dad: the mother, when she fell in the pool and was surrounded by food… Was that a nod to Phenomena, or Poltergeist?
Definitely a big step above last week’s non-episode. Highlights for me:
-Stewie accidentally playing a clip from ‘Philadelphia.’ “That was supposed to be ‘food fight!’”
-“That one tasted like my father!”
-Peter having a “Ring” reaction to Mannequin.
The rest was also quite great, with the exception of the severe overuse of the wacky radio sounds. I started using them as an opportunity to switch back to the Red Sox/Yankees game.
