God only knows when we’re getting this. I hope Sci Fi is a little quicker on the draw with this season.
I think Fall, along with the first half of Galactica, is when they’ve always aired in the states. Pretty sure I read something to that effect with S3 as well.
Okay, I’ve just seen it. Really terrific stuff.
But then, I’m DW-obsessed, so take my praise with a grain of salt.
I thought it was quite good as well. The Doctor is as playful as ever and his new companion, Martha, is quite good. However, The Doctor still has some unresolved feelings over Rose, which should be interesting to see how Russell T. Davies (is that how his name is spelled?) plays it out. And looking at the episode list, there should be a couple of good Dalek episodes (yea!). I’m happy to have The Doctor back in action!
Martha seems like she has the makings of a fantastic foil to the Doctor. Whereas Rose seemed to be puppy dog eyed over the Doctor from the first episode, Martha’s been a little more caustic and seems to be a lot more intelligent than Rose.
And Once again the net, well Outpost Gallifrey, is buzzing with rumours that the Saxon meme = The Master coming back.
Okay, the hell with waiting for SciFi, I’m downloading these suckers.

I don’t check out Outpost Gallifrey for fear of spoilers and the like but I did notice all the Vote Saxon posters around the place on Earth.
The Doctor also alluded to having a brother at one point, so I’m thinking we are definitely heading into Master territory which is pretty cool.
Loved Martha. Loved her.
Little bit disappointed when the Rhino guy took his helmet- at first I thought the Brute Squad were Sontarans, the costume seemed to be exactly the same.
Yeah I was expecting Sontarians as well, but I think the bizarre Oval faces would have looked a little odd with current FX. Speaking of which the shot where the Ji Doon ships drop onto the earth looked REALLY ropey to me, like the FX had taken a step back since season 2.

Honestly, I’m hoping to not see the Daleks again for a while. They were supposed to be gone forever, and both seasons managed to bring them back. With forty years of history to draw on, I would hope they could think of other villains to pull out of mothballs before dredging up the Daleks yet again. I liked seeing last season’s alternate-universe Cybermen. More stuff like that would be nice. And I’m still waiting for the triumphant return of The Master. Eric Roberts optional.
I’m pretty sure YouTube will have (low-quality) versions available of the episode this week. It’s how I got to see the Christmas special, and most of Season 1 is up there too. I consider it a teaser of sorts until the US premiere.(This probably won’t be the case anymore, though, since the BBC and YouTube brokered some kind of deal for the network to put stuff on the site.)
As for the SciFi premiere, I’ve read that we won’t have to wait too long: the end of June is what I saw announced around Christmas, but I don’t know if that’s still the case.

Actually, I found several complete versions on the newsgroup alt.binaries.drwho.
Hm. That doesn’t surprise me. (And after a check of YouTube, the episode is indeed on there. Found the listing on the SciFi DW forum, no less.)
Good to know that it’s maintaining its quality. I feared the worst because Torchwood is just shit.

Pretty sure that the estate that owns the rights to the Daleks made a deal that specified they HAD to show up each season. I agree: I’d rather see them sit this year out, but the Black Dalek from last year featured in this seasons teaser so I guess we’re stuck with them for now.
Just finished watching The Runaway Bride, which was worth it just for the TARDIS/car chase alone, but which was also a damn lot of fun. Didn’t expect Donna to say no to him at the end.
From the previews at the end of Runaway Bride, I was expecting them to have just re-imaged the Sontarans…the costumes were so similiar.
Great puppetering work.
I’ve been waiting for the Master as well, ever since the still with Tony Head from S2 blocking the Head in Headmaster. Since the Sontarans are out this season, he may be the big bad.
Watched Curse of the Fatal Death this weekend, which had Moffat involved…would be great to see a serious Jonathan Pryce in the role…
Well if the Master is coming back, it’s good money he’s either going to be played by Derek Jacobi or John Simm (Sam Tyler from Life on Mars).

I personally enjoyed Torchwood, but maybe that’s because it had more of an adult theme than DW.
I just finished watching DW’s first new episode and it definitely made me laugh a few times and the new traveling partner appears to be more entertaining than Rose was. I haven’t seen it mentioned yet, but the new girl is also DAMN FINE! And her sister is pretty hot as well.
This season definitely looking up so far and while I don’t have much knowledge of DW history, I am interested in seeing how this “Master” that everyone’s mentioned comes into play. I’d also like to see if there are any female Time Lords (Ladies?) out there. Hell, if the Daleks can keep coming back over and over, why not the eventual return of the Time Lords.
