Well it starts tonight…im excited.
I’ve always found Dexter’s relationship plotlines to be the least interesting stuff on the show, but more Dexter is more Dexter. Here’s hoping for a great season. Looking forward to Lithgow.
First episode is pretty good! Good to see Dex back. Interesting that there is a scene with his daughter that is similar to one in Breaking Bad…American Fathers almost trying to confess what they have done and explain themselves to their children. Terrific stuff.
Was reminded at how great a Physco Lithgow actually is, all that Third Rock shenanigans had totally made me forget.
Can’t wait to see this stuff play out.
Prediction: Lithgow won’t make it to next season.

But man, I really do love it when things go wrong whenever Dex has his little killing ritual. I mean, its just more realistic that things won’t ALWAYS work out perfectly every kill. Better hurry and hide those body parts in your trunk, Dex!
I think I was more surprised by the naked girl.
Usually this show treats its killers with a sort of cleanliness to their killings, and Dexter especially doesn’t have any really weird fetishistic quirks to his ritual. So it was surprising to see Lithgow’s killer have such a bizarre almost sexual (more intimate) component to his killing.
I have a hard time having any real concern for Dexter and his bags-o-person. It’s the first episode of the season, we’re not going to have 12 episodes of Dexter in jail awaiting conviction.
Boy there are 2 people on this show that I wouldn’t mind seeing naked and Lithgow isn’t one of them. However despite Lithgow’s ass I dug this episode and I agree with Jack about the lack of messy killers. Not sure how Dexer is going to explain body parts in his trunk but I also know theres something like episodes left so…he will.
Question: I haven’t seen the first three seasons, but I’ve kept up on major plot developments. Is this a show that I can jump on? I’m excited for Lithgow, but don’t really have the time to play catch up.
I think you could jump into it pretty easily. Outside the central conceit I don’t think there is much to get your head around.

Well Showtime does have this thing called dissecting Dexter which is pretty much a massive recap, so if you can catch that your really set.

You will miss “titty British vampire”- but seriously you can jump into S.4 easily. A brief wiki around the main characters like sister and some cops wouldn’t hurt..
Love how they hit the ground running in this one. Looking forward to the cat and mouse game between Dex and Carradine’s character and Lithgow. Two things I really loved: the ‘Dexter-as-tired-dad opening’, such a great moment and Dexter’s reverential, almost envious tone when he said that Trinity was the most successful serial killer to ever get away with it.
So, bets on when Deb is going to fuck up the good thing she has going with Anton?
I’m actually looking forward to what made Harry Morgan sleep with Dexter’s mom.
He could of had Adrienne Barbeau but didn’t.
Very seriously, its been made clear that Debra has been looking at quite a few women and so far found nothing indicating that Harry was a philander. What changed in Dexter’s case.
They have got to ease up on the narration.
Also could do without Dexter having long conversations with Harry.
Any scene not featuring Dexter is just mediocre TV bordering on soap opera levels. It’s that simple. The episodes are a slog to get through now, the quality has diminished over the seasons. And yeah, Dexter’s voice overs have also become stale. The sooner Lithgow and Dexter start sharing scenes the better.
Yeah, it really is amazing how quickly this show has gone down hill. I couldn’t believe it but I was actually bored and couldn’t wait to get through the episode and move on to all the other good shit on the tube last night.
I was never a big fan of the interactive Harry hallucinations they introduced last season and it seems like they consisted of half of last night’s episode. So tired. Hey, I guess James Remar’s gotta work.
