Metroid Prime? Get that weak shit off my monitor.

Gladly.
Believe me, it’s kinda neck and neck for me, but Prime has about 30 hours gameplay, operating at an unwavering 60FPS, and, gravity gun aside, innovates WAY more with FPS mechanics than HL 2 does. The story/telling’s stronger overall in HL2, but there’s so many awesome facts and stories to be gleaned out of the scanning system its ridiculous.
I’ll also stick my neck out and say, you take Ravenholm out of the equation, Prime absolutely creams HL2 in terms of creating fear and tension in the player spread through the game instead of 2 or 3 spots.
It deserves its place.
Oh yeah: SOUNDTRACK.
Your move.
Um, I’m down for this. I’ve got a PS3. I’m TVSmith on the psn. I play Uncharted 3 and Bioschok 2 a lot. I am a loser. Let’s kill each other.
Technically speaking, HL 2 gently brushes Prime aside as it passes by so it won’t hurt it.
In terms of creating a believable and relatable cast it has yet to be surpassed in its genre. Its animation system manages to create more character with a couple of eyebrow raises and a shoulder shrug than other games manage with hours of “Hollywood” voiced cut-scenes. City 17 is a masterpiece in atmosphere creation. The cold light, the run down buildings, the omnipresence of The Combine, the looming Citadel, create an air of quiet despair and hopelessness that is dangerously close to being actually unpleasant for the player. Ravenholm which you so conveniently put aside, besides being scarier than the huge majority of the supposedly “scary” games, provides with the help of another thing you put aside, the gravity gun, some of the most refreshing gameplay in an FPS to date.
The combat scenarios are ridiculously varied, yet still manage to be a part of a cohesive narrative. From corridor shootouts, to vehicle sections, to combat arenas, to sniper battles. From proto tower defense to micro escort missions. All in the narrative. Without the need for Family Guy style flashbacks. Even the bane of all FPS games, its “platforming” sections, are exciting and immaculately designed. And to top it all off, they subvert the usual difficulty curve. The end of the game is not nearly the most challenging part of it. You’re empowered, supercharged. You tear through the Combine like the Hulk with a sadistic grin on your face as you toss the enemies in the air like toys. And in the end, at the moment your triumph…
…the rug gets pulled from under you. You’re not the almighty hero everyone believes you to be. You’re a tool, a weapon to be used at the whim of beings playing a game you’re not fully aware existed. At the height of your accomplishment, with a snap of the G-Man’s fingers you’re back to the nothingness you came from.
Prime certainly deserves a place in the Pantheon, but there’s only room for one on the throne.
So, I’m on PC and 360.
RDR - Well up for some chewer possee action. Been meaning to give the MP on this another whirl.
Bayonetta - It’ll be a nice excuse to play through it. Have it, enjoyed it but got ditracted with other stuff and never finished it.
Company of Heroes - Why the hell not? It’ll be no fuss grabbing it off Steam, so will give it a shot.
As for other candidates, some chewer SWTOR sessions would be great, and from what I’ve seen from the demo the ME3 multiplayer could be fun as well.

I’m sorry…I DON’T understand…
Essentially, though I’ve gone through it (gotten sick doing so, mind you, lol), I definitely don’t think I have it in me to go through it again. It’s got interesting concepts going through the story, but overall, it doesn’t do anything for me.

Oh my God, Bioshock 2 is a game I could go through again in a heartbeat. It’ll give me an opportunity to make the decisions I didn’t make the first time around.
If an RDR Chewer-posse saddles up on the 360 at some point in the next couple months, count me the fuck in.
Hard to declare a clean winner the *Metroid Prime/*HL2 contest, but I’ve heard on good authority that the Phazon Mines make St. Francis Of Assisi want to kick babies.
Okay, well I haven’t played Half-Life 2 myself and since I can finally play fps’s again at last, so I’d be keen for that as well.
Just picked up Dark Sector and The Darkness (original), as well as ALAN WAKE, a game I wanted to throw into the mix here. I’ll wait until we pull the trigger on a particular game before I start playing any of them.
I am currently downloading all the free updates for Red Dead Redemption and pondering adding money to my account so I can purchase the Undead, which I never did. I played on a friends, but not mine.

I love Undead Nightmare, personally. I think that’d make a great Game Club choice.
Bayonetta definitely needs to go in queue if for nothing else than the number of WTF’s the cut scenes and the incredible bosses will induce. It’s a silly, silly game but the combat, graphics, and art design are some of the best of this generation
Never finished Undead Nightmare, and voted for Bayonetta the first time round so would be cool with either.
I’d propose throwing Enslaved: Odyssey to the West into the mix as well. It’s a well-reviewed game that didn’t sell (For an added bonus, making it dirt cheap) has an emphasis on cinematic storytelling AND features Andy Serkis heavily. Seems tailor-made for some Chewer attention.
I’ve played Undead Nightmare, would happily play either Alan Wake or Enslaved - but I can’t say I’d be onboard for Bayonetta. Happy to go with the concensus tho.
Screw Bayonetta.
Ive already played Bayonetta, so Enslaved might get my vote.
ANot to take anything away from its Chewer fans, but I was underwhelmed by Enslaved. Really no interest in playing it again–but I guess that’s what the voting’s for.
I’m even more curious about Alan Wake to be honest, it looks like the equivalent of playing a pulpy Steven King novel. That said, I may be caught up with Witcher 2 at least until early May I feel (how many conceivable gameplay hours are there for those who’ve played W2?).
