Chewer March Madness Takes on the Readers of Rolling Stone

Rolling Stone polled its readers in 2002 for the Top 100 albums of all-time. It had a lot of bad choices, but it is a very accessible list, which is something I wanted so that as many people as possible could vote.

So reply here if you want a First Round game. One game per person.

I’ll start:
2. Appetite for Destruction (Guns N Roses)
15. Hybrid Theory (Linkin Park)
Winner: Appetite for Destruction

I’m game.
Hit me baby one more time.

For Anya:
3. Dark Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd)
14. Unplugged in New York (Nirvana)

For Poxy:
4. London Calling (The Clash)
13. Vs. (Pearl Jam)

Somewhat tough choice but the Nirvana Unplugged, while great, was more of a tv event. I’m not a big Pink Floyd fan but this album was pretty good

Winner: 3. Dark Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd)

For Rommel:
5. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (The Smashing Pumpkins)
12. Highway 61 Revisted (Bob Dylan)

Never was a big Smashing Pumpkins fan, but their double CD MCATIS was damn fine (though I think “Siamese Dream” is their best). Dylan’s “Highway” is a great album as well, but “Blonde on Blonde” is his best.

In a close one, the Smashing Pumpkins take it.

For Scott:
6. Weezer/Blue (Weezer)
11. Definitely Maybe (Oasis)

For Starving Dogs:
7. Siamese Dream (The Smashing Pumpkins)
10. Grace (Jeff Buckley)

7. Siamese Dream (The Smashing Pumpkins)
10. Grace (Jeff Buckley)

sigh. my hatred of the Smashing Pumpkins knows no limits. I hate, hate, hate them. With that said, Buckley just isn’t my cup of tea.

Siamese Dream (The Smashing Pumpkins) wins
~based on maybe one or two songs, tops~

BLASPHEMER! You will know God!

<smites Rommell, dusts ashes off his clothes>

Could I have one, too, please?

  1. London Calling (The Clash)

Oh sweet Jesus, this isn’t even close.

London Calling in a landslide on top of another landslide with a third landslide coming in from the side.

For Blunt:
8. Sticky Fingers (The Rolling Stones)
9. BloodSugarSexMagik (The Red Hot Chili Peppers)

For Rath:

  1. The Joshua Tree (U2)
  2. Kind of Blue (Miles Davis)

For 86:
2. Abbey Road (The Beatles)
15. Paranoid (Black Sabbath)

No contest here. BloodSugarSexMagik all the way.
