Pulling this out of the generic threat because it’s totally awesome.
The animation in this is next level, the voicework is exceptional, and the plotting is excellent.
And the fight scenes? Oh my God. The closest comparison I can think of is NINJA SCROLL but honestly, this crushes NINJA SCROLL.
Seriously, stop what you’re doing and watch this. The only reason I’m stopping after episode 5 is because it’s 11:15pm and I don’t want to finish this at 2am.
I finished the whole thing a couple hours ago and it’s an absolutely phenomenal piece of work. I think it’s actually better than Arcane in a couple of respects.
I suspect there’ll be some people who’ll call Mizu a Mary Sue, but she goes through it.
Yeah, that one felt like a mistake to me. There are like two other anachronistic needle drops in the whole show, but neither of them stick out like that one.
This show is a tour de force on pretty much every level. The plotting is elegant, the characterizations are on-point with no wasted scenes, the world is beautifully realized … it is simply phenomenal.
Thank you guys for pointing this out. I very rarely watch anything animated, for some reason it just doesn’t register for me.
I plan to finish this tonight after work. The only thing I haven’t been onboard with is the contemporary music as already discussed. I hope this does really well, and this creative team makes more like this!
I am dedicated to my wife and daughter. But man, I will never be as dedicated to anything like Mizu (and frankly, most any fictional character) is to REVENGE. Sure, it’s destructive but boy it does seem to grant you an unwavering focus and purpose.
I’m only two episodes in, thus avoiding reading this thread for the time being… but I just had to express just how blown away I was with these first couple. I’d just been showing my brother in law the opener for the Rurouni Kenshin reboot prior to firing up Blue Eye Samurai.. and as much as I love RK, Blue Eye Samurai completely upstaged it in every conceivable way.
