RDJ as Dr. Doom? I guess you really do live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
Not a fan of this. I want A real Doom. They screwed him up in the previous films and had hoped to get him right this time. Disney panicked that Marvel was taking hits in phase 4 and wanted to bring back its biggest star.
I really hate this. Im so fucking tired of the multiverse.
If he’s actually playing the real Doom – Victor Von Doom of Latveria – then I’m fine with it.
If he’s playing a Tony Stark variant who has gone evil and is calling himself Doctor Doom, I hate it with an intense passion.
Cinematic Doom has been botched (to be polite) thoroughly in the past, and if they don’t do the character correctly here, it will never happen. And that would be a gigantic shame.

One weird thing is I don’t even know who the “Avengers” in the title of this film actually are.
Right now I’m irritated by the title. “Doomsday”? Is that literally the best name they could come up with for a Doctor Doom film.
I’ll go out on a limb and mark today as the day the MCU died. Everyone knew it was in trouble, but it’s pretty clear there’s no way back now.

When has Downey ever played a villain or even a character with an edge well? The effete miasma of privileged schmuckiness he exudes was perfect for Tony Stark, but Doom?
Seems like an awful choice.
And the giant amorphous blob that was once Mickey Mouse gurgles happily as it consumes your meager financial tribute and becomes even larger. Casting its malformed shadow across the world as untold millions of people cheer happily as it takes over every aspect of their lives.
I wonder if they floated him coming back as an Iron Man variant and he said no, but agreed if he could play a bad guy. And now no one is happy, but RDJ is even richer than he was. I really hate when actors agree to come back for the cash, but add the condition they get to shit on the character in some way (i.e. Harrison Ford.)

The more I think about this, the less I like it. Christ’s sake, he just won an Oscar for near career-best acting and expected something more prestigious to come off the tails of it.

Boy did they blow it with Gunn. Suicide Squad was good, Peacemaker was amazing, Guardians 3 was the best thing Marvel since Endgame and so far everything looks great for Superman.
