As I understand it, it’s way better than standing in front of him…
Cross also teases that we’ll get a glimpse of Tobias’s extended family. That’s gotta mean they’re paying off the Tobias Is Really Black running joke, right?
Dunno whether to put the Tambor updates here or in the Gossip thread, but I guess I’ve already baked that cake, and after all the situation has the potential to affect Season 5.
Joannie Burstein, Tambor’s manager, had this to say in an update to the above article:
^ Shit…I hope she saved the receipts.
Hmmm, this is quite the logic puzzle. Why is it that someone might a) make complaints but b) not to the person who works for the subject of the complaints and instead c) to someone else who doesn’t have a direct business relationship with them of the sort where their income is so dependent on being employed by them.
By accident I failed to include the first paragraph of the Barnes statement in my earlier post. I’ve fixed that, but it was a crucial omission because in it she claims that she made repeated efforts to bring Tambor’s harassment to the attention of The Burstein Co., Tambor’s management company. So Joannie Burstein is straight up calling her a liar.
In less dreary news, David Schwartz is apparently at work on the music for Season 5. Screenshot swiped from Reddit:
Somebody stitched together the entire penthouse “family meeting” scene from Season 4. I believe it’s the only scene where they actually filmed the entire cast physically together. You get the scene in bits and pieces throughout the season - sometimes in such a way that joke payoffs don’t happen until episodes later - so it’s fascinating to see the whole thing fused into one whole and with everything in context. I guess a glimpse at what the re-cut must look like.
Alia Shawkat was on Conan on Tuesday, and she was pretty cagey about Season 5, saying only that “it will be revealed to the world soon.”
Mitch Hurwitz recut Season 4 of AD and it’s going up on Friday… Cinco de Cuatro - https://twitter.com/arresteddev/status/9…2605523971
GLORIOUS! Let’s fill the bay with chorizo!
This is going to be fascinating.
I haven’t watched season 4 since it was first released back in 2013 so this will be interesting.
I remember bits and pieces of it here and there but forgot most of the story.
[crosses fingers]
I am quite pleased with the original cut of the season, even if it took me some time to truly appreciate its genius. So I am happy that this is seemingly going to be offered as an alternative rather than a replacement. I’m really looking forward to it, and especially to the guaranteed debates about which version delivers certain gags better. I suspect there will be some altogether new jokes, as well as altogether lost jokes.
The biggest interest for me will be the pacing. It seems to me that the impeccable pacing of the original series is the primary thing Season 4 sacrificed in order to pursue its different and arguably more ambitious format. If the recut brings back some of swiftness of the first three seasons, I am fascinated to find out what (if any) costs it incurs in other areas.
Christ, the Season 4 revival was five years ago?
I needed more notice! I’ve been putting off a rewatch of the entire series for this re-ordered season 4.
Can’t wait to see how the reshuffled season plays. I don’t think the unconventional order bothered me as much as the super-long episodes. That’s what really hurt the season for me. You’d think watching them back to back, the episode length wouldn’t matter so much, but when you’re staring down the barrel of a 31 minute George Sr episode, it becomes a daunting proposition. In some ways, I’m still watching that episode and always will be. It never ends.

woof
that episode is the worst
and it’s not just the length
George Sr is just not an entertaining character on his own. even without being one of the longest episodes of that season, it’s just really boring
