Ok. I missed seasons 6 and 7 of Buffy. Who the hell is this other watcher fellow? And is he 5 years old? And gay? And a total fucking geek?
He is Andrew, one of Buffy’s arch nemesises… ses in season 6. Joined the light side and all that good stuff in season 7.
I am going to have to go out on a limb and say that this was the best episode of the season so far.

The best episode of the season, and they FINALLY used Wolfram and Hart in a way that made sense, and had Lorne do something. If they could figure out how to deal with Gunn and Wes better I would be very happy.
All in all, yay for Drew Goddard goodness.
And hrmmm, Cordy’s back next week? Penned by David Fury, should be pretty solid.
I didn’t enjoy Andrew as much as I did in Buffy. He didn’t seem to quite click for me just the same. There were moments when it seemed right.
Still, very interesting episode. There were some great lines, and they’re building on the mythology left behind by Buffy and company while squarely putting Angel and company in a whole different camp.
So, Buffy doesn’t trust Angel? That seems a little off… Wouldn’t she at least come and ask why? Granted that would involve getting Geiler to guest star, but it could be said to have happened off-screen.
That was a great final scene, with the twelve slayers allied against W&H. Great stuff.
It was great from the beginning. The medical and legal stuff was refreshingly authentic (Angel and Buffy tend not to be very believable when dealing with this kind of stuff) and that bit with the bonesaw really made me squirm.
Very happy that they dealt with Eve’s obvious betrayal right at the beginning.

Kind of cool to touch on the idea of a Slayer given the powers but with no attendant morality/training etc.

“Where’s the rest of me?!?!?” (Sorry, couldn’t resist.) I’m not that choked up, though. Even if he wasn’t a self-healing vampire, we know Wolfram & Hart has access to magical limb-replacement.

BTW, next episode is the 100th, isn’t it? Is there anything special planned?
Good episode, but Spike getting his arms cut off was corny as hell, especially since it’ll probably never be mentioned again. A cheap shock.
But the Andrew moments were all gold, the army of Slayers was great (screw Lindsey…an evil Slayer army would be one helluva Big Bad for the season) and the fights were solid. Awesome dialogue, and I love the way they’re slowly developing the Angel/Spike relationship.
For a filler episode, it was a pretty good 'un.

Still no word on another spin-off? I thought it seemed that they really wanted to do one. Maybe they are still holding off to see if Tru Calling gets canned. I really want to see whats going on with the slayer armies. If Faith doesn’t work out they should just build a show around a new character. Have Xander as her watcher(finally giving him something to do.) Andrew can be a regular and then have a bunch of new characters. That wacko slayer can be in there too.
The reason I am OK with the hands thing is that it allowed Angel to feel bad for Spike, helping to move their relationship forward.

And I don’t think this was a filler episode. This is a huge turning point for the entire season (and series). It set up the groundwork for what Angel’s biggest fight will be - him vs The Powers of Good.
Angel is good but Wolfman and Hart are bad and as it’s boss he is pretty much the Big Bad himself.
