Classic Whedon episode, I wish I could write like that man. I would be hella rich.
The best part of the episode was the guys talking in the lobby about what to do save her. Well written dialogue, great direction, and perfect acting. It was a classic exchange, even it was just exposition, it didn’t feel like it.
it’s going to be a shame when this is gone.
The caveman/astronaut debate reveal made me cackle so fucking hard.
I really don’t understand the WB. They cancel a great show like this, but Batman Begins is looking awesome?

That was hilarious, frightening, smart and heartbreaking. TV really doesn’t get much better than this.

Was it just me or was the sound HORRIBLE this week? Besides the fact that half the show was ADR (this happened in the last Joss episode too - I bet his thing for long takes ends up meaning they end up cleaning up his sound more), the conversation in the tunnel was almost inaudible for me.
The sound levels were fine for me throughout. Sounds like your station just got screwed.
And that guy wasn’t Groo. He’s never been on the show before, unless my memory is crapping out. Just someone Angel met in the past.
the sound was bad. I had to turn the captions on for the Spike/Angel scenes.
As for the Astronaut/caveman I think it would matter whether or not they are fighting in a closed cage or open environment. In a cage-caveman wins. In open environment theastronaut’s smarts would win out.
My sound was fine.
The guy guarding the well played Paul in the two Dune miniseries on SciFi. Definitely not Groo.
I thought this episode was one of the weaker ones Joss has written and directed. That said it was still very good. This season is just exceptionally strong. I guess if you have to go out it’s best to go out in top form.

This was my guess when I was watching.
I like it, sometimes, when there is a character we haven’t encountered yet there still is a history.
I’ve got to fucking wait until next Saturday for part 2. Big 12 basketball is pre-empting the show.
A cliffhanger and I have to wait an extra 3 days to see it after everyone else.
Loved it.
Lorne was great, Eve was really pathetic (in a good story arc way), Wes and Fred were heartbreaking, and I loved the connection between Spike and Angel after Fred needed help.

I also liked Gunn fighting himself. It seems like Gunn sees himself as part evil maybe? I would love to see Gunn fight himself for his own redemption after this mess.
One question though.
Angel and last week said Lindsey was probably burning now. This week everyone seemed concerned about where he is at? Did I miss something? I thought Angel believed the Senior Partners were cooking Lindsey, but now he seems to think Lindsey is in hiding. What’s up?

He doesn’t really know what happened to Lindsay. Either he escaped and is hiding. Angel isn’t really sure. Anything could be happening at this point in his mind.

Ditto. The final moments between Fred and Wesley before her transformation were the high points.
No sound issues here, thankfully. This episode had some wonderful comic and tragic moments. Watching made the idea of cancellation seem even more absurd.

I agree with this so much. I don’t know any other TV that gets me this emotionally involved with the story and characters. This IS what television should be.
Excellent episode. Everything was beautiful. Wes and Fred’s scenes together were pretty damn emotional. I love how Gunn is seeing the repurcussions of his actions, and the conduit finally grew a pair!!!
Spike and Angel stuff was gold.
I knew knoxx was an evil fuck!!! Great build up from the beginning of the season.
Although, I am very very very very skeptical about where the show is going from here because no matter what you guys say this bares A WHOLE lot of similarities to Jasmine. Both used an Angel soldier as a host, although jasmine took many more episodes. It is going to be interesting to see how they play this one out. I am frankly a bit disappointed with it right now, but I have faith in the Angel crew. Hopefully this ends well. Still a bang up episode.
Shame on you Whedon doubters. I’m sure this will play out. And I hope Angel, Spike, Lorne and Wes destroy W&H for it’s part in what is happening to Fred.
And Am curious-what book was Wes reading to Fred?
