About a half dozen WWE-related threads are on these boards. This is an attempt to get just one started that can encompass Raw, Smackdown, PPVs, and other WWE news.
Last night’s Raw was the first featuring the Draft Lottery. In a bit of a shock, the first choice (done at random according to the storylines) was WWE Champ John Cena. This sets up a great feud with Christian in the short term. In the long term it allows Cena, the WWE’s best hope for a new cross-over star, to headline on its flagship show.
A problem with this is that both champs are now on the same show, with Batista already set to defend his title on the next Raw PPV against HHH in a Hell-in-a-Cell match. The clear way out is to have either Batista or HHH drafted to Smackdown, win the PPV match, and take the belt with him. I can’t see HHH jobbing to the same guy three times in a row, but I can’t see HHH going to a lower-rated show like Smackdown either, even if it is with the belt.
Also, this was Raw’s last push for the watered-down ECW PPV. A bunch of ECW wrestlers, including the Dudley Boys, came out of the crowd at the end. The biggest pop seemed to be for Rhyno, who was just released from the WWE. Vince pays attention to things like this. If Rhyno gets his personal problems together, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him make a return soon.
As far as I’m concerned, Cena’s on Smackdown until a couple of weeks after the draft ends. HHH was drafted to Smackdown for all of a week last year, and despite the joyous crowd reaction upon the news, they brought him right back. So until we clear the point when no further trades can happen, Cena could be back on Smackdown at ANY time.
Whatever the case, Cena and Christian MUST be on the same show. Those guys are gold together. Reminds me of the Rock/Austin days in terms of mic work.
Speaking of mic work, can we please get someone to do the talking for Batista? He actually has NEGATIVE charisma. He sucks it away from other people when he speaks. Only person as bad that high up the card is Edge (well, Lita, too).
I’m thinking they’ll pull something along the line of having Cena drop the belt to Christian at the PPV, then have Christian traded to Smackdown with the belt. Or Cena being traded back to Smackdown the same way HHH was traded back to Raw a year or two ago, at the end of the draft. But bottom line, Cena dropps the belt to someone who gets traded to SD, more than likely.
I am not keen to all the B storylines (or the A storylines).
What is this talk about an ECW only PPV? Is it going to be former ECW stars only? Will it include former ECW journeyman i.e. Benoit, Jericho, etc. or only those who made the jump directly from ECW? Will Tazz be involved? Is this jsut going to be a wrasslin show or are there feuds and shit set up for it? Is Heyman involved? And finally, will they be showing tits because it just isnt an ECW ppv without tits.

The ECW was going to be a straight up ECW PPV, with Paul Heyman doing most of the work. It was going to feature wrestlers who at any time have worked ECW. No fueds or storylines were being built up for it. Once the tickets went on sale, and the 400 dollar tickets didnt sell out immideately, WWE stepped in with their creative team and created this whole WWE Invasion storyline, where WWE wrestlers from both brands plan to show up and put an end to it. Pretty lame. Actually, very lame. Oh, and more than likely, no boobies.
And for those who don’t know, two days before One Night Stand, Shane Douglas will be presenting Hardcore Homecoming in Phily.
The Matches:
A Three-Way Dance main event of Terry Funk vs. Sabu (with Bill Alfonso) vs. Shane Douglas (with Francine)
The Sandman vs. Raven
Justin Credible vs. Jerry Lynn
CW Anderson vs. Kid Kash
The reunion of the Eliminators (Perry Saturn and John Kronus)
Also scheduled to appear at Hardcore Homecoming are Axl Rotten, Chris Chetti, Danny Doring, Roadkill, Don E, Allen, Don “Cyrus” Callis, Jason, Joey Styles, Joel Gertner, Johnny Grunge, JT Smith, Pitbull Gary Wolfe, Terry Funk, Tod Gordon, Tommy Rich, Tracy Smothers, Mikey Whipwreck and several surprises!
This won’t be on PPV but will be released in 3-weeks on DVD. Unlike WWE’s version, this one is already sold out.
Well, I hate to say it, but I marked like crazy when the ECW guys came out of the crowd, especially when Axl Rotten and Balls Mahoney showed up. I’ll bite and buy the PPV, but I might also buy that DVD mentioned above as well. And I’d love to see the Eliminators. They were my 2nd all-time fav tag team behind the LOD. Total Elimination is a great finishing move, especially when they involved the tables.
Also, did any of you read Rob Van Damm’s critique of how the WWE is handling this PPV? He pretty much called them out and said they’re trying to screw up something that could be great. Of course, he has no problem speaking his mind anyway, which is one thing I’ve always liked about RVD.

My other thought was that Edge exercises his “money in the bank” contract to get a shot at Cena, takes the belt, and gets promptly drafted back to Smackdown. But he already announced that he will be wrestling Kane at the next PPV. They could open it up by having Kane drafted to Smackdown this week, leaving Edge without an opponent for the PPV. But that would essentially kill the storyline with Kane, Edge, and Lita.
I think they definitely want to do the following:
Keep Cena on Raw to get him more exposure
Keep the WWE title (the one Cena holds) on Raw as it is the traditional WWE/F title
Send the World title (the one Batista holds) over to Smackdown, as it is the old WCW title
I’m 100% sure that John Cena will be back on Smackdown before the draft is over, along with Christian. Kurt Angle will hopefully come to Raw.
As for the ECW One Night Stand, the reason for the WWE invading the PPV is because Vince has no faith in the ECW product, and this way, if the PPV fails, he can blame it on ECW, and if it succeeds, he can credit the WWE’s involvement for the success. Dick.
When the hell is this PPV coming on? That is a fucking killer lineup. But only an appearance by RVD? He isn’t wrestling? I would love to see him go at it again with Jerry Lynn.
Fucking Vince…I swear the guy lives in a bubble. He didn’t get Mick Foley back in the day, he NEVER got ECW, and he doesn’t get the fan base.

I will definitely bit torrent the pirated version of this show assuming it stays somewhat kosher.
There’s no way that Chris Benoit should be anything less than a main eventer with Smackdown’s lackluster roster. And now that they finally conclude the Kurt Angle/Booker T feud tomorrow night, Angle should be free to join RAW. Hopefully, this will also put an end to the “Kurt Angle Invitational” BS, as having that and the Masterlock challenge on the same show would be beyond dull.

The Masterlock Challenge is already beyond dull. I really hope they end it soon, because its a waste of time and space that people with talent could be using, not just some wannabe Lex Luger steroid freakboy with no charisma and no mic skills.

Chris Masters looks like one of those guys that tried to go from the WBF to the WWF way back when. Vince’s obsession with big men is annoying sometimes (see: Heidenriech, Snitsky, Masters, Tomko).
I actually enjoyed Raw this week. It had a strong start and end, but the crap with Edge/Lita/Kane is already stale. Hell, Edge/Lita is stale already.
You know, on topic, me and my buddy Jordan were excited to see Cena on RAW because it became obvious real quickly that his freestyling could be fun again on Spike. However, think about it, doesn’t Stephanie McCuntwhore hate Cena? And who better to run him down than her hubby, Triple Cocksmoke? After remembering Steph’s distaste for Cena, we were no longer happy for him…unless, Captain Trips beats Batista in the cell (and he probably will) and then is forced to move to SD to be the champ of that brand. Imagine a RAW without HHH.

Not to mention that the next RAW PPV is two weeks later. Imagine how it would look if a dead federation gained more buys than the actual WWE PPV. With the Invasion angle, Vince can claim that they were the reason if it does get more buys.
Seriously, can anyone remember a RAW PPV that didn’t have HHH in the main event? I was hoping this whole “I’m leaving” thing would give someone else a shot. But alas, only for a non PPV show. Once the Gold Rush is over, here comes HHH again. And man, am I sick of his repetitive in ring promos. “You know, I know, they all know…” “I am the best in this business…” “I am the true champion…” and on and on and on. Blah blah blah.
