FINALLY! For those willing to watch Friday Night Fix on AS, Season 2 has begun…
SPOILERS!!!
It seemed a little awkward in the beginning, but had a lot of highlights. Seems like the show finally returned to its groove before the end.
Favorite parts:
*Opening segment. Nice way to delay the boys fate and a lot of fun.
*Dr. Venture “finding himself”.
* “Just climb right back up inside me!”
* Dr. Orpheus in Hades
* Men Before Henchmen
*ANY scene involving King Gorilla. “Et Tu King Gorilla?” Had me rolling.
And especially…
The boys death montage. Fantastic. Especially, “There was a gas leak that time. The silent killer.”
My only problem is this makes all the “dangerous situations” the boys are in much less dangerous…
Overall, a great first Episode for Season 2. Can’t wait for the next one.
So I take it the boys stay dead? I’m really worried about this. I really loved the show’s cynicism but mostly becasue of it was balanced by the wide-eyed innocence of it’s titular characters. Yeah, they were dumb, but they were damn likeable…not to mention funny. A show centered on Dr. Venture and his half brother/ex-tumor seems like it would be missing something…I guess I’ll see for myself tomorrow night…
I totally dug the “Something Wicked This Way Comes” reference they made with Doctor Orpheus.
And the idea that Doc Venture accidentally locked his Hadji analog in the manufacturing wing with his father’s brain damaged boxer body guard 20 years ago and didn’t even realize it.
Also the Monarch’s behind bars supervillain cabal. Septopus, White Noise, King Gorilla (also, King Gorilla’s attempted prison rape of the Monarch, hilarious "You’re built too much like a girl, I couldn’t get it up", the tiger guy who can’t actually do anything without his suit.
This season is going to be awesome.
Though I didn’t like the way that Urbaniak played Jonas Jr. I actually thought that they got a new voice actor for him.
Wow. I missed most of the first season but I’m not going to miss any of Season 2. That was amazing, especially King Gorilla. I really need to pick up the Season 1 DVD. Was King Gorilla in Season 1?
I’ve only caught this show sporadically, but it’s usually pretty good. So I made sure to catch the season premiere. Funny stuff that hasn’t been mentioned yet:
Monarch getting loaded up for his escape with the Oz music playing in the background.
“Do you even HAVE blood? You’re just static!”
Orpheus’ Hot Topic teenage daughter.
“I was the top guard of Ceasar!” “No he wasn’t! He choked on a popsicle stick at a Halloween party!” “Just tell everybody that!” “You’re such a liar! THAT’s why you’re in hell!”
“Well, the mail was addressed to Dr. Venture. And since you were off discovering yourself, I’ve earned two doctorates. So there’s another Dr. Venture.” “But I was gone for only a month!”
Did you see the Adult Swim bumper where someone sent in an e-mail that nearly acted as a check-off list for the ways that Dean and Hank returned or the show changed? He mentioned cloning, Orpheus attempting to resurrect them, and Rusty and Jonas Jr. being the new brothers of the title.
I personally hoped we wouldn’t get Dean and Hank’s return. I find them insanely annoying(which, granted, they’re surely SUPPOSED to be). And focusing on the jealousy of the failure son of the great Venture towards his short, metal-armed, more successful fetus brother would offer a ton of plot possibilities.
The only things this episode was missing were Dr. Girlfriend(probably my favorite character) and Brock effortlessly killing someone.
Favorite death is the Apple/Bow and Arrow. They both looks so cocky when getting ready to shoot. The gas leak and Dean running with the scissors were also pretty good.
The Monarch/King Gorilla stuff was fantastic “et tu King Gorilla.” The attempted rape was hilarious “you brought me back to your place” “well I have porn here…it helps”
Can anyone tell me how Hank and Dean 14.0 biffed it? Was it shown during the final episode of the first season? I thought I’d seen all of those episodes, but apparently not. Thanks.

Final episode…“return to Spider skull island” Monarch’s henchmen shoot the boys while they are riding on their hoverbike…Easy rider style.
I nearly lost it when they said 14 times…the montage was hysterical.
Kinda of Disappointed at the lack of Jonas in the season opener…but overall It was a great episode and without question the Venture Bros is the best show on Adult Swim
I don’t know… something seemed off for me. It was so different from a normal episode in the first season, I was probably thrown a bit.
Some of the voice acting was different. They obviously gave Jonas Jr. a totally new voice for some reason, but also the henchmen and Triana sounded different.
Also, what was the deal with all the bleeps? In the first season, everyone in prison swears, and even the Venture brothers start doing it even though its totally out of character for them. But now, if I recall correctly, even Rusty is getting bleeped. I hope they won’t continue that, since it seems out of character, against the tone of the show, and just annoying to have bleeps in the dialogue.
Oh well. I’ll see how it goes in the second episode.
the season premiere last night has got to be some of the greatest and funniest moments in tv (imo). i laughed till i cried. i tried to get my wife into the show last season and she would just roll her eyes and go to bed without me. never understood the logic in that. such a great show.
fantastic premiere. the show just hit the ground running without looking back (which is a bad thing for new viewers…they would be clueless because there is absoultely no recap whatsoever of all the wildness of season 1).
I loved every minute of it. I can’t believe its been 2 years since I have seen new episodes.
