Hogan’s Heroes? Hogan’s Heroes?!?!

I loved that show when I was a kid.

Ya know, there is nothing wrong with Baywatch. The storylines (the first 5 or 6 seasons or so) were great. And of course you’ve got the eye candy…

One day a few years ago they ran a Cop Rock marathon on VH1. I was really curious when that show was on in '91, and I never got to see it because I was delivering pizzas, so I actually sat there and watched the entire run of the show on VH1. If you take the songs out, you’ve actually got a show as good as any other Steven Botchco show. Dealt with police corruption, racial tension on the force, gritty criminal investigation…and then every once in a while a character would break into song. If every critic at TVGuide is calling “once more with feeling” one of the greatest hours of tv ever, it’s pretty hypocritical for them to put COPROCK at #3 on the list.

It could probably be argued that Barney gets a bad rap, too.

Seems to me the hate towards Hogan’s Heroes is a recent, PC-inspired development – you can’t have a comedy set in a German POW camp and not be disrespectful to Holocaust survivors, the thinking goes.

Some of these are really quite arbitrary. I used to watch Hello Larry when I was a kid, and it was just your typical mediocre sitcom, no better or worse than hundreds of others. I’m sure the only reason it’s on the list is because McClain Stevenson left MASH and then went and did Hello Larry, which was a really dumbass move, but that doesn’t make it one of the worst shows ever.

How about The Bradys, the serious 1-hour drama spin-off of The Brady Bunch.

And wtf are they talking about w/Hogan’s Heroes. They’ve got their head up their proverbial, magazine-selling, line-toeing asses. And Howard Stern’s E! show is GREAT … well, most of the time.

This ignorant list simply reeks of safe, political correctness. There’s not one stand out or daring choice here for a bad telelvision show. Jerry Springer at # 1. Oh please. I’ve never been a fan of the show, but come on, calling it a bad show is like saying Hitler was a bad guy. Speaking of Hitler,to anyone who has every actually watched the show you know Hogan’s Heroes wasn’t mocking prisoner of war camps or victims of Nazi aggression; it was a TV sitcom lampooning prisoner of war camp movies and it was good. They only put it here on this list to look morally superior. Same thing with Howard Stern, many nights that E show of his is the best thing on late night TV.

It wasn’t a bad show in the beginning, just received a lot of scrutiny later on in it’s run because of increased hokey-ness.

Hello Larry is also a spin-off. It was a spin-off of Diff’rent Strokes. Larry and Mr. Drummond were Army buddies. I love Howard Stern.
