That fight between Kendall and Ed was great. Kendall won that decision in the last 30 seconds. Had the fight ended any sooner, it would have gone to Ed. When Ed took Kendall’s back, got the hooks in and almost sunk the choke, Ed had to have been up on all three scorecards. When Kendall reversed and took the same position on Ed, he swung it back in his favor. Great action the entire fight. Ed’s cardio was a little suspect and I was wondering if he would even be able to answer the bell in the third round. Both guys are going to have decent careers ahead of them.
Damn, Bisping is good. Just well-rounded and aggressive as hell. He’s not quite up to the level of a Tito, Chuck, or Babalu, but he’ll get there soon. And Josh said he’s dropping down to 170 after fighting his first fight at 330. I propose that the next season of TUF be just Josh and Joe Riggs fighting each other in a best of 5 series in 5 different weight classes.
Keith Jardine is one tough SOB for making it out of that first round. Wilson just faded in the second and third and allowed Keith to take the fight away from him.
Florian is being built up right now against pure strikers with no ground skills. He’ll be exposed bigger than life against Sean Sherk when they fight for the lightweight title. Barring a freak cut from Florian’s elbow. Sherk should destroy the kid.
I am eargerly anticipating watching Shamrock get his ass kicked again. I wonder if he’s reviewing the old tape of himself losing to Tito the first time as he snacks on xyience shakes and steroids.
Bisping is good, especially with the knees, but he could’ve finished off that guy sooner with a choke. Josh is not a legit ufc fighter.
I would really like to see Ed Herman fight Chris Leben. Those two guys are almost the same person.
They talked to Chris Leben on the Bubba the Love Sponge show yesterday. He said he’s all about the three vices: Drinking, Eating, and Screwing–and they’ve put him in a suite at the Hard Rock overlooking the pool just days before he has to fight, so he’s going crazy because he can’t do any of those three things. He was sitting around trying to make weight for today, and had 18 lbs left to go. They also goaded him a bit to essentially make a challenge to Rich Franklin (since he’s a friend of the show), and he laughingly called Rich out. His prediction for the fight Wed. night is that he’ll go right at Silva, probably take a punch to throw a punch, take him to the ground, drop an elbow, then pound on him until he submits. And I agree, I’d love to see him fight Ed, or even Kendall.
Was quite impresed with Bisping. The man was attacking Josh in 7 different ways over the course of the fight. Nice amount of submissions to the ground and pound to the stand up. Impressive to say the least. He may be better then Tito at this point considering Tito spoke about how during the show Mike almost caught him with an arm bar at one point.
What I find funny though is if Shammy was any less the jerk Tito would easily been seen as the jerk he is as well. Yea Tito impressed my with his teaching during the show but having watched UFC 59 he is no less the a-hole he’s always been. So I’m just looking for both fighters to knock the crap out of each other period. Besides UFC is good for watching no so great technical fighters with a lot of heart beat each other to the point of the viewers exhaustion. Having watched a bit more Pride lately…it’s leaps and bounds better on a technical level. Disregarding maybe Chuck (who got beat by Rampage) and Hughes Pride is just far better top to bottom. It’s quite interesting watching the difference. If UFC didn’t have the chracters and the fights who don’t give up like they do it would be like watching old NBA compared to the WNBA.
Ed Herman and Chris Leben will never fight because they train together at Team Quest. Leben was in Herman’s corner for his fight last weekend. But it would be a pretty good fight.
I think Bisping could really do some damage if he dropped down to 185. He’s not a big LHW. He has more of a MW build anyway. But, after Chuck, Tito and Babalu, the UFC doesn’t really have any quality LHWs (Forrest and Bonnar ain’t there yet). Meanwhile, they are building up a nice MW division with Rich Franklin, Anderson Silva, Nathan Marquardt, David Loiseau, Chris Leben, Evan Tanner, Dean Lister, and the new Ultimate Fighter guys coming in. Bisping will get a title shot faster at LHW, but like Brandon Vera, he would probably be a better fighter dropping down a weight class.

Yeah, I just saw that. I guess Hackney went out to Vegas with Gideon Ray, who he coaches. That probably led to rumors that Hackney was competing. Since these guys competing are pretty experienced, the “coaches” are just there as advisers. I wonder if the competitors were able to bring in some of their own people for training, which would explain why Hackney was there.
For me, the biggest disappointment with this list is no Nick Diaz. He’s lost 3 in a row in the UFC (but did pick up a win in a local Stockton, CA show last month). But they were all close fights. Nick Diaz has a big mouth and a short temper. It kind of sucks that he won’t be involved.
