AThe Long Kiss Goodnight has probably the best logic fart of Black’s career. Wow, the bad guys waited until right around the time Charlie’s memories began coming back to execute their attack on Niagra Falls. Like seven fucking years. Nothing better to do, huh?
This is entirely accurate, and Black himself even says it when discussing his writing.
I was just saying that LW’s plot isn’t anywhere near as convoluted or hard to explain as KKBB.
When I talk about KKBB, the only way I describe it is that Downey is playing a dickhead thief who lands in Hollywood by chance and gets hooked in with a real private eye and crazy, nonsensical private eye stuff happens and it’s funny as shit. Fin.
AI like how in the LW univere they can just blow away the bad guys and go back to work the next day, and there’s no investigation, no mandatory time off or administrative duties, none of that bullshit.
AKKBB always throws me off because every time I think it’s going to be about RDJ faking being an actor, but it’s only that for five minutes and quickly moves on.
AThat helicopter scene is the only one where expert marksman Riggs can’t hit anything with his pistol.
That’s because in that particular scene he didn’t do his patented stop, drop and roll technique.
Also, no one was torturing him at the time, so he wasn’t as into it as he could have been.
AThat’s what they teach you in the Special Forces.

Seriously…he should’ve shot a smiley face into everyone’s chest..
A"Where should we discuss the complexities of this case?"
“How about the shooting range, where we’ll both be firing loud guns, wearing ear protection and not reviewing any physical evidence, witness testimony, etc.?”
AThat sounds like economical filmmaking to me!
AI mean, it’s more visually interesting, since it’s a straight up dialogue scene.
AAs great as KKBB is, the last scene with Kilmer and the Dad is horrible.
Also when the credits begin and that song that Downey sings comes on.
That shit is awful.
Fuddy duddy!
Huh? I’m not complaining. We were talking about trying to describe the premise of this movie, and the beginning of KKBB makes you think “Thief accidentally lucks into audition, has to fake being an actor.” But once he and Kilmer are on the case, it almost completely forgets about the show RDJ is supposed to eventually be on, etc.
Not a point against, just an observation.
Not one note enough. Must simplify.
That’s the joke, though.
Yeah, I get it. And I like it.
Seriously the fuck people?
ABart I thought the same thing, but once they find a dead body and become entrenched in real chaos, Gay Perry probably thought to himself that these were fantastic “detective lessons”
Doesn’t he give a “you better be taking fucking notes” line to RDJ?
