Pointless? Self-involved?
I’m getting dizzy.

Maybe you should sit down.
I have to run to class, but everyone should feel free to call me insane while I’m away.
he’s insane.
the wedding was long but necessary and the rest of the movie is just classic
Yup. Insane. Tie him up before he gets his hands on something else, like Hitchcock.
So now we are denied the masterful performances by Walken and DeNiro in this film. The fact that both actors would “survive” (not always a sure thing, I might add, who knows what would have really happened?) is beside the point entirely. Those performances would now be gone, and that’s a freakin’ crime.
Goldberg? J’accuse! At least you could have JUST picked Heaven’s Gate . . .
Not much to discuss with Micah’s pick. Although I liked the film, it has done more harm than good.
Excellent pick Micah. I like the film but as Blunt said it has done more harm than good.
I had a feeling Scream would go on the block. I can understand the reasoning, but I’m sheddin’ a tear anyway. I really enjoyed it, mainly because the genre it pokes fun at is NOT one of my sacred cows.
Farewell ghost mask, we hardly knew ye. Oh, ok, we knew ye a lot. Probably too much. Ehh, screw it. . . .
only wish you could clump Armagedon and Deep Impact in the same mighty blow. GOD I HATE THIS CRAP
I like Scream, but it’s death is justified.
Goddamn it, Micah…I wanted that kill…
EXCELLENT pick. Cancel out this movie and you cancel out Dawson’s Creek, the awful sequels, the self-referential humor that damn near ruined the last decade for horror, that cocksucking Wes Craven movie with Meryl Steep and the Backstreet Boys, Cursed, the utter destruction of the Halloween franchise, the careers of Jamie Kennedy and David Arquette…the benefits go on and on.
As long as Armageddon is that gone, does that domino into a deletion of “The Core”? Thank ya, sai, you just made my day.
Scream actually brought horror movies back to the theaters. It was fun & at the time it was fresh. Sorry to see her go.
I will defend Armageddon with my dying breath.
And I’m kinda wondering if the blame shouldn’t be put on I Know What You Did Last Summer rather than Scream, because it was the success of that one that really cemented the return of slashers.

But the horror movies it brought back were nudity-free, bloodless, unscary movies made for teenage girls, movies where a bunch of WB television stars made endlessly cute little quips about being trapped inside a horror movie and the good guys always won.
Hell isn’t hot enough for Scream and its bastard brood.

Echoed.
It’s kind of funny that my least favorite movie is Armagedon and my favorite movie is Beyond the Valley of the Dolls. Doesn’t put me in a very good position for high-horsing. They’re both pretty much equally lousy, both redeemed only by the distinct visual styles of their respective directors, and you could make the argument of either being intended as a post-modern satire with equal success. I guess one is just the kind of crap that appeals to a stoned goofball like me, the other is the kind of crap that would appeal to…I dunno…my brother. It’s such a jock movie.

You know, I don’t need my horror movies to include nudity OR blood. The only thing I require is that they be scary and make some sort of sense. I’m not saying that nudity and/or blood detracts from horror at all, I’m just saying I think a really good scary film can affect the audience as intended without them. And if the movie depends upon the presence of nudity and blood I often think of it as a weak film.
Then again, maybe you define horror movies in a more particular way than I do.

And I would back you.
I’m considering a choice that may get me banned form the boards, though with Micah’s choices I may be safe. I’m reluctant to choose it though because I’m not sure if my motives are pure. I could be choosing it just to be controversial. Its a movie that I really don’t like by a director who’s other movies are beyond question and one loved I dare say by most everyone. Would that be “sufficient” reason to pick it? Am I just being a big weenie?

Scream still doesn’t fit your criteria.

I didn’t say I liked Scream as a horror movie though, did I?
