So as much as I like the look and some of the ideas and the action and stuff, I could never truly get into Arrow. But THIS I can get on board with. I love the idea of speedsters recently for some reason. Growing up I always thought Flash was lame and not worth worrying about, but with two Quicksilvers and this show coming all relatively soon, Speedsters special FX and powers are visceral and cool looking and used with imagination and flair. Not everything in this trailer is any good, the Arrow has a particularly lame and cheesy line, but I love the tone and the FX. I tend to be more forgiving to TV special effects, but I think this really looks pretty neat.
You see, this I want to get into. I think the FX look perfectly fine, it looks like a lower budget origin story. If you made this as a movie the FX would only be marginally better than what’s in this trailer.
Flash is my third favorite comic book hero. (Batman and Spider-Man rank higher.) So I’ll be all over this when it airs.
Brief observation: If Chris Nolan’s Batman films were a visual inspiration for Arrow, The Flash feels like it is taking bits from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man. And I mean that as a compliment.
Yes! Exactly agree, and maybe that’s why I like it so much. Especially the scene where he’s discovering his hand is hyper active, and everyone in the cafe is super slow. It feels a lot like Tobey freaking out as he discovers his abilities.
Looks surprisingly good for TV. And it looks like it might be kind of fun despite the wanna be seriousness moments. The Flash should be fun damnit and we need a fun superhero again.

Game of Thrones is amazing. I meant more that this particular Flash looked good compared to the track record for most other super hero television shows (Smallville, Birds of Prey, etc) although that is not really a high bar to pass. Is there really a consensus on the best live action super hero TV show?
Well, this was goshdarn delightful. Really gets that bright, optimistic tone that virtually no other superhero show on right now has. It’s corny, colorful, and just fun. Arrow’s developed into a decent show, but this pilot absolutely kicks that one’s rear.
Also, if the CW really goes forward with the villain they tease at STAR Labs with the cages, I will be the happiest boy.

It really is. It’s the best live action TV show I can think of, period. The main guy has this bright eyed optimism that is fun and infectious, he’s an absolutely fantastic find. A really enjoyable pilot.
