I predict nothing for the Wire, Battlestar Galactica, and of course nothing for the Shield. So the usual crap then. Although I am optimistic about Friday night Lights chances. Best actor nod for the coach would be good.
If 24 cleans up after the worse season ever, then something is seriously wrong. Here’s an interesting article about how the Emmys usaully ignore the good shows:

If Friday Night Lights doesn’t rack up some nominations I’ll be mighty pissed. It’s really the only show that I care about being nominated. Not because others aren’t deserving, but because FNL could really use the exposure after barely getting renewed for a second year.
Battlestar doesn’t stand a chance. I don’t think it deserves a Best Drama nod for its very uneven third year, but it still deserves some acting nominations.
I’d also love to see Extras sneak in as Best Comedy.
The Closer deserves some love, as does The Shield and Battlestar. 24 deserves nothing. This season was pure shit.
I’d better see both Michael Emerson from LOST and Gerald McRaney from Deadwood in the Supporting Actor category.
Also, some 30 Rock love would be nice.
Season 4 of The Wire cannot be ignored. It just can’t happen.
30 Rock, FNL, BSG and the Closer should all get some love…

Guess who’s in for a disappointment.
As much as I’d like to see 30 Rock, The Wire, Walton Goggins, and Lost clean up, I’m fully prepared for the worst by seeing Heroes pick up a lot of awards in major categories.
For dramas I’d like to see “The Sopranos,” “The Wire,” “The Shield,” “Dexter,” and “Rescue Me.” I believe, and correct me if I’m wrong, the Emmy voting goes from shows airing from June of '06 to May of '07 so I’m talking about the 3rd season of “Rescue Me.”
“The Sopranos” is a lock for a nom but I’ll be shocked if any of those others get their due.
I’d take the above less, but drop Dexter like a hot rock in favour of FNL.
Dexter deserves all.
I’ve heard nothing but good things about “FNL” so I don’t doubt that it’s worth nominating. My picks are just from the shows that I’ve seen over the last year. “Dexter” had an impressive first season and I’d like to see it recognized. If not the show then at least Hall for best actor.
Oh god… I forgot about Heroes.
Dexter has just started here in the UK, but I was impressed by the first episode.
As for acting awards, I think Oded Fehr deserves a nod for his work on Sleeper cell, and Walton Goggins was amazing in the 2 episodes of the Shield that have been shown here. Best supporting actor ?
If Heroes wins anything my TV is going out the window.
You all are really setting yourselves up for disappointment. BSG? Rescue Me? The Shield? Deadwood? Dexter? The Wire? Come on! We all know the Emmys love to reward the WORST in television. So 24 is a shoe in for Best Drama.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the universal loathing of 24’s 6th season keeps it from showing up on the ballets, but I’m naive like that. Dexter would be a nice (and worthy) surprise, but I’ll settle for a Best Actor nomination.
what about the comedies?
Honestly I found very few shows that were remotely funny this year.
How I met your Mother
and … 30 Rock, even though I only saw 1 episode.
I’d nominate Psych just because Roday is hilarious.
Lost’s March-May run should earn it a nomination.
I’d hold out hope that this would be John C. McGinley’s year to at least score a nomination, but if they were too dumb to nominate him for Season 5, they’re sure as hell not gonna nominate him for Season 6 (which was pretty shakey). Ah well.
