The show seems like a darker version of Sports Night with the same feel as the West Wing. I’m definitely looking forward to watching this in the fall (although it is in a tough time slot, against both CSI and Grey’s Anatomy).
I just noticed that this link is listed in the forum for NBC’s fall schedule, but it still seems like a topic that could be worth its own thread.
You get major cool points for posting this.
How could this NOT be on anyone’s fall viewing schedule (unless you’re an avid fan of Grey’s Anatomy or CSI in which case, I think we just explained it).
NBC would be smart to run reruns of this show on a different night if things go well.
Unfortunately, all time designated for possible repeats will be used by Deal or No Deal, the show where people test their skills at guessing.
I’m talking weekends.

After reading it through with the actors in mind it works a lot better. Still don’t like Peet, though–my reasons for watching this show are Sorkin, Busfield, and Whitford. The rest of the cast is pretty stellar, too. I have to say that Whitford’s line in the teaser–haven’t seen the six minute one yet–about “You work in television” makes me really want to see this.
But “Under Pressure,” Aaron? You can do better.
Anyway, as I’ve said before, my most anticipated media event of 2006.
I’d watch Bradley Whitford and Matthew Perry read baseball box scores to each other, so I’m totally with this.

Grey’s Anatomy will be good competition. I bet ABC forces their hand and forces NBC to move this to another night.
Wow, just watched that preview. Gotta say, I’m excited to see this, but wary that it might go the way of Sports Night and never really find an audience.

Peet remains a concern of mine, but I’ll trust that Sorkin knows what he is doing.
As I said in the other thread, I’m looking really forward to this show after reading the script and watching that preview. This will fill in the void that West Wing has made in my weekly TV viewing.

I’m not worried about this going the way of Sports Night because Sports Night was a poorly handled show on the part of ABC. As long as NBC lets Sorkin be Sorkin, they’ll probably be winning that Best Drama Emmy again in no time.

But I agree, if whoever’s producing this (because from what I understand, Sorkin left ‘West Wing’ in a dispute with Warners, not NBC) lets Sorkin do his workaholic days and turn in scripts that are great rather than on time, this has a lot of potential.
I think Sports Night had a “No stars” handicap that is usually required to reel in peripheral viewers. It’s a shame it was taken off the air during it’s prime. But us Six Feet Under fans definitely see the silver lining in that cloud.

I got into Six Feet Under because of Sports Night. Peter Krause is fucking amazing.
i’d way rather krause playing perry’s role but i’m still delighted perry is a part of this. the 6 min trailer fucking rocks. i’d like to smack the audience at the nbc fronts in the side of the head for thinking otherwise.
When this project was announced, I was actually hoping Krause would play a role. I also saw Dule Hill getting DL Hughley’s part, and the rumor there was that it was going to be Jason Bateman and Perry for a while.
I don’t want another ‘West Wing,’ honestly. I’d rather have a show more in the vein of ‘Sports Night,’ which was more comic than serious. West Wing always had gravitas. From all I’ve heard and read, this is going to have a little bit more swing in its step.
And besides, there is no way Sorkin and Schlamme are ever going to top “Two Cathedrals,” period.
My impression in the pilot was that this is to television what West Wing was to politics–a love letter. As someone who’s been watching tv since before he was born, who can tell you the most inane amounts of obscure TV trivia, I certainly hope that continues.
Also, I missed the window in which to view the six-minute trailer, but I did catch a clip of Perry saying “This is a good studio” in another video and I have to say, I was happy. That ending–cliched Queen aside–is really great. I’m much more confident with Perry working with Sorkin/Schlamme than anyone else–he kind of bugged me on Friends, but his guest spots on WW were aces.
