Starts this Wednesday. The last couple seasons have been fairly hit or miss, but South Park is still capable of greatness.
Premiere Episode:
“The Ring”
“Kenny takes his new girlfriend to a Jonas Brothers concert thinking it’s his way into her heart among other body parts. But his dream of taking their relationship to the next level is crushed when the Jonas Brothers give them purity rings.”
Who else is looking forward to this?
After all they’ve done for us, Matt Stone and Trey Parker get the benefit of the doubt, but last season was really disappointing.
Even last season had the greatness of Obama’s 11 and Cartman’s stint as Edward James Olmos. But yeah, I definitely hope year 13 is a step up.
There were moments I loved (the guinea pig Cloverfield bit was not only inspired, but utterly adorable), but most of the episodes felt uncomplete and lazy in some way.
Not bad enough to give up on them, but it was disappointing nonetheless.

Agreed. Besides the guinea pigs, however, I’ll always cherish Butters as a vampire.
The last two seasons have been very dissapointing to me. Sure there has been some good stuff. But the bad outweighs it. Really hope they can get back to hitting home runs every week.
Unless you’re under 12 years old or have kids of your own, you don’t have any reason to sit around pretending to get pissed off about High School Musical or Twilight or the Jonas Brothers or whatever. Trey Parker is seriously reaching for ideas these days.
I guess the same could be said of the Pokemon episode from a decade ago, though. Is it unreasonable to expect that the show might have grown up a bit since then? I don’t know.
Considering that the show is about elementary school kids, I think it makes sense for them to take on things that real kids are obsessed with.
It was definitely an off season, but the Britney episode alone shows they still have it in them to create greatness when inspiration strikes.
I thought Major Boobage, Super Fun Time, Over Looging, and Britney were great episodes, but everything else was just awful.
And Season 11 was pretty bad too, with less than a handful of eps worth watching (and I’m counting imaginationland as one episode for the record).
I really think it’s a combination of them just simply running outta ideas combined with the speed at which the seasons are coming out.
Hell…they even admitted that the reason Imagination Land was in Season 11 was because they had simply ran out of ideas…they really wanted it to be a movie.
Yeah, that last few seasons have definitely been somewhat lackluster. I’m still a fan, though, and I will keep watching. We just have to hope for the best.
I still think SOUTH PARK is one of the best things on television right now. I’m glad they are doing a Kenny episode as they usually are the best. IMANAGIONLAND was just spoiled by making it too Butters heavy. Butters is one of the reasons the show has gone downhill lately, there is too much of him. I know he has his fans, but he dosn’t really carry the show.
Nothing could spoil Imaginationland, especially not Butters.
Actually I thought season 12 was pretty good. I thought there were a lot of good shows, and even the poorest ones had a good moments.
Evil Mickey Mouse. I like it.
The girls’ mouths all dropping open at the same time…nice!
Wasn’t thilled with most of it, but I did like the implication that Mickey Mouse rampaging through cities is a semi-regular event. And that he lives in Valhalla.
I was bored to tears with it.
Plus, The Jonas Brothers? I guess they were banking on the movie to do some actual business.
Worth it for the little “ahas” that trailed all of Mickey’s dialog. And for the Mr. Slave cameo.
This one must have hit me just right, because I laughed out loud multiple times during this episode, and I usually don’t. It was the stuff with the kids that I found funny though, all the stuff with the Jonas brothers and Mickey were just extra.
Butters looking into the camera and saying, “Oh, I thought that was a wedding ring” needed a *rimshot*.
