The special will air on Dec. 17 and will be hosted by Gilly, a character who I am not familiar with because I haven’t watched the show in ten fucking years. Hulu has a few up, though I’m having more success finding them on Google video since Hulu is a mess to navigate through.
Much of it is just goofy pratfalls, but I still lose my shit each time I watch this.
Can anyone find any of the Consumer Probe skits?
Best one involves George Bailey rallying the town to kill Mr. Potter.
The George Bailey sketch is one of the funniest things SNL has ever done. Great concept, but maybe just for Phil Hartman as Uncle Billy. Or Jon Lovitz as Potter.
I really miss when Comedy Central had SNL and they’d run a big Christmas episode marathon.
Always loved the “Disfuntional Family Christmas” from the Dennis Quaid episode circa 1990. Also the Ralph Nader Christmas Special and Gumby Christmas Special sketches were gold.

Schwetty Balls is still one of the best repetitive skits that they’ve ever done.
Does anyone remember a fake commercial from the mid-90s hocking an electronic crying baby Jesus for your manger scene? The gag was that it had the most obnoxious crying and wouldn’t stop. This, of course, leads to the family being all kinds of harassed and sleep-deprived because Jesus is caterwauling through the night.
“Daddy, make baby Jesus stop crying.”
“I can’t, honey… I can’t.”
Anyone?
YES. I remember that one very well, Mattioli. The baby Jesus sounded like a cat being raped.
eta: it’s apparently from the Anthony Edwards episode (Foo Fighters as musical guest) from 1995. Ill be damned if I can find a video for it online.
My favorite is still “The Global Warming Christmas Special,” with Carl Sagan and Isaac Asimov lobbing a bucket of blood at Crystal Gayle’s fur, which was the first I remember featuring Dana Carvey’s Paul McCartney impression. That cracked me up in junior high.
Am I the only one that thinks Hanukkah Harry doesn’t really hold up all that well? The only thing I still laugh at is Lovitz’ delivery of “six pair! Can you believe it?”
The alternate Its A Wonderful Life ending is one of the few things that gets my dad. Never fails to make him laugh.

It’s not amazing but there were still some great bits about it (Hannukah Harry saying that Santa’s too hard on the kids, the way he responds to the milk they left out, his workshop). It certainly works better than some of the topical humor that shows up in some of these sketches. It’s hard to “get” Chevy Chase playing Gerald Ford at this point.

Loved the Phil Hartman-era Johnny Cash/Betty Ford Christmas Special as well. Lovitz as David Crosby always a treat.

Yeah, that was a pretty solid sequel. I still prefer the ‘balls’ skit, simply because we totally knew where the ‘wieners’ one was going once the skit started.

Favorite part was when Lovitz stands up and walks around. “Look, he’s not even a cripple”
Steve Martin’s Holiday Wishes is such a fantastically simple skit, but Martin’s delivery makes it glorious.
I like the one where Hugh Jackman recounts the Christmas tradition of his father (Will Ferrell) getting ass-raped by a giant kangaroo every year.
Plus, I always have time for Carvey’s Grumpy Old Man Christmas memories: “Look at me, I’m sleddin’ on dead people!”
