Everybody says this, but I can’t figure out why.
Every season has had its strong points, there’s not really much I can think of in the way of tired storylines.
The death of Lucy Knight and Carter’s drug addiction probably falls into your “years ago” remark, and I think that’s when the show got its second wind after being weak in seasons 4 and 5.

The Simpsons will always be one of the greatest TV shows ever, if not THE greatest. But I think it’s safe to say the show has outstayed its welcome now. The quality started deteriorating around season 8. Unfortunately it’s still making a ton of cash for the people involved, and nobody has the heart to pull the plug.

For whatever reason though almost every show you have listed here did really good. I can watch about 3 seconds of Full House and wonder why anyone would possibly sit through it every week but enough people did that the show lasted like 9 years. When the only goal is making money any show that holds its own for 9 years is very deserving of being on the air.
And Perfect Strangers kicked ass.
COPS should be on forever.

The show is vastly OVERRATED.
Sorry, kiddies, but this show does nothing for me. I hate anything that sympathizes with sleaze like Tony Soprano. Besides, its just boring as hell.

I didn’t claim they were quality, I just said that if enough people like them to keep those shows around that long they deserve to be on the air. Go watch PBS or Food Network if you are looking for quality.
