At the end at the factory, I definintely got some Terminator vibes. The music, the limping heroine, and the crushed bad guy.

The first vamp has the creepiness of the Gentlemen but can move. Did you see that mutha’ move?

Willow did well. Didn’t mail in her perf.

The First as Dru did well. I always have liked her.

Faith better get her ass here now. At least, Buffy mentioned her.

And why doesn’t Buffy get the bad vibes from the Principal? She has dealt with evil people with even more subtle evilness and she got him.

This episode got me so pumped up. This pisses me off just like Angel did. “Let’s wait to show more episodes, because we’re tv and we can do anything.”

Good stuff. And I agree, the reason Buffy doesn’t get “bad vibes” off of the Principal is because he’s a good guy.

Yikes- Buffy got her ass kicked! I liked the show but hate that we have to wait for a new one. How did Giles get out of the axe heading towards his head? Also - we now know that shiny hair equals great leadership.

Hmm - not sure what the call is on the principal. I can see it both ways.

It is just that on previous episode-only baddies, she has caught them and they were even less evil than he might be. Oh well.

I was contemplating this possibility too. But, right now, anything can happen as far as I am concerned.

ADDENDUM:
I believe Giles might be dead, and the First is impersonating him. I don’t remember him touching anything as per what ‘he’ told Buffy about what the First does and doesn’t do.

Willow is what, 20 or 21 years old, and these potential slayers are supposed to be 15 or 16?

If it’s more than flirting they might be pushing it a bit.

Good ep. overall. Did have a bit of “filler” feel to it.

Great speech by Buufy though to top it off.

I don’t know if I’d call Willow’s look of shock “flirting”, but that’s just me.

I agree, the potential may have been flirting with Willow, but Willow was more in a state of shock. The potential (Kennedy?) had a bit of a Faith vibe, Mmmm lesbian Faith…

On another topic. It was kinda obvious that Giles didn’t touch anything. He didn’t knock at the door, backed away when Buffy went to hug him, didn’t touch the books (Giles not touch books!) and he didn’t help Buffy out of the hole at the empty christmas tree lot, which you would expect him to do. Of course it could be a case of misdirection, so anything is possible.

I was thinking Giles might be a ghost. Except that the spin-off show sort of puts a damper on that. If he was the First, would everyone see him?

I wonder if there’s a picture anywhere of the First from that episode? I’d like to see what it looks like.

thought the same about Giles being dead/posessed/First, but then discarded the notion upon considering the BBC series they’ve been discussing. but something is surely amiss. my guess was that he went all “Ripper” on the dude and feels a little dirty, particularly after preaching to Willow.

good gag at Signs ’ expense.

laughed aloud at Andrew’s outburst (“And it cost them their lives!! Go on…”. he wound up being the most amusing of the Doom Trio

Great episode. The dialogue was great, and the action certainly worked. Glad to see Drusilla back for awhile, as she has always been one of my favorite characters. Spike’s defiance because of Buffy’s belief in him was a small moment, but a great payoff for that arc in the story. The look on Buffy’s face as the Ubervamp pulled the stake out of his chest was great. Loved Buffy’s speech at the end as well.

One possible loophole/error/foreshadowing I noticed last night. Giles says the First appears in the guise of the deceased, which explained everyone’s ghosts. I don’t watch Angel, so I didn’t know Drusilla was dead. Now I do. However, if it’s true that the First only appears as the deceased, then how did he morph into Buffy for Spike? Obviously, Buffy has been deceased twice, but she’s not deceased now. Or is she? Does this go back to Spike’s whole assertion that she didn’t come back right?

The principal is still an enigma to me. I’m leaning towards him being a good guy, but I just have my doubts. The whole office on top of the Hellmouth thing just makes me wonder. Whatever he is, I think he’s been one of the best additions this season.

Well, if the rule is that the first can take the form of people who have died, both Buffy and Spike qualify. Remember, old William died before turning into the vamp we all know and love - all humans die before turning into vamps. Regarding the principal - I’m guessing he’s good, but who knows? Since the gang is up against the first evil, maybe the principal is the first good - god or what have you. The guy playing principal Wood (think that’s his name) is doing a great job, by the way.

The tricky thing is that, since the “rules” of how the First operates were set down by a Giles who may just be a manifestation of the First, they might not be reliable.

There’s definitely something weird going on with Giles, but I don’t think he’s necessarily First-affiliated.
