The show premieres September 20th on NBC, starring Jason Lee. It’s getting great reviews and the promos have looked pretty funny. Besides maybe Kitchen Confidential on Fox (I’m a Tony Bourdain fan), this is the comedy I’m looking forward to most.
Looks like The Lee has found a winner. Maybe he can get Affleck gainful employment through a guest spot.

Indeed. the first thing I thought was that this series should at least provide some fun moments for cameos.
When did Suplee lose all that weight??
judging from an ad I saw, the first big cameo appears to be the squeaky-voiced Del Taco guy.

It’s when Smith and Mewes appear as Jay and Silent Bob that you know the show is done. Look for that to happen around the February sweeps.

Don’t know why, but I’m getting an “Ed” vibe from this based on the promos. I’ll definitely be checking it out.
Shit, yeah! I’ve been thinking the same thing. I work at a NBC/CBS station, so I see these promos all the damn time and got to check out the sales video that gets taken to clients. Some funny stuff in there. I’m looking forward to it.

I enjoyed the kickball flashback. I wish I had though of that when I played kickball.

I’m surprised they let anyone in to any establishment wearing an Osama Bin Laden mask, even a titty bar.

I loved the short scene of Kenny waiting outside the gay bar. “I’m straight!”
I really liked this show and I hope NBC’s over-exposure doesn’t kill it. I mean, if that was just the pilot (which is usually a poor indicator of a show’s future because it has to introduce everything), then I think NBC might have a much-needed hit on its hand. Now it just has to give it a chance. What are they gonna do, fall out of 4th? (actually, if it falls behind WB or UPN in the ratings, it will be a permanent stain on the network).

And I laughed my ass off when he saw the Man’s Man magazine. Funny show, lots of promise. And I sure as hell didn’t expect the rubber band man to be in it.

A great start considering the story and characters it had to introduce in less than 30 minutes.
Here’s hoping it hangs around for a while, as I’ll be tuning in.
It wasn’t laugh out loud funny as much as it was stupidly clever. I liked it. I don’t know where all this massive critical praise is coming from though. Maybe tv critics got 2-3 eps to take a look at.
Its a very solid pilot and it could really go places, but I felt a HUUUUGE Bottle Rocket theme with a little bit of Me, Myself, and Irene thrown in there (mostly because of the black kid who obviously wasnt his and the wife ends up running away with the original father anyway)
I think it would be an insult to Arrested Development to mention this show in the same sentence though. Any of those comparisons should end right now, unless there is a giant leap forward in quality over the next 2-3 episodes.

Same here. This episode was fun, but I hope things will get funnier.

Agreed. I went into this one with expectations way too high and I think as a result I may have been too harsh, but I only really laughed three times as opposed to Arrested’s stomach cramp inducing rolling on the floor.
The missus and I thought it was very affable and funny. We’ll certainly give it a chance for the next few episodes, at least.
