Scifi Channel’s ‘Mad Mad House’ begins spooking on March 4 By Steve Rogers, 02/18/2004 The Scifi Channel will debut what’s probably the spookiest (and certainly among the freakiest) American reality shows ever seen when Mad Mad House premieres on Thursday, March 4 at 9 PM ET/PT as part of the network’s new Thursday original programming lineup. Part reality and part game, the one-hour ten-episode series will chronicle the unhinging of ten everyday people who move into a house run by a Vampire, a Wiccan, a Naturist, a Voodoo Priestess, and a Modern Primitive to compete for a $100,000 prize. In this Survivor-meets-Big Brother-meets-The Osbournes series, five genuine practitioners of “alternative lifestyles,“ referred to collectively as the “Alts,” rule the roost. Their ten more “conventional” guests will strap in for the ride of their lives as they undergo a number of tolerance-testing activities.

I saw an ad for this the other day. Fun twist on reality television. These judges look like they’ll be very entertaining to watch. Any word on what kind of games they’ll have to do to win the contest? I mean, are all these guys going to leave the house with new tattoos and piercings?

Agreed. But the veritable religious parade they have surely picked out for this show will be very, very amusing to watch. And let’s not forget the jackass high school types who loathe anything that is different from the norm.

Yeah, he looks like a badass. I heard that he hangs out at Venice Beach a lot?? I dunno. I’m always the pale kid at the beach so I don’t know the culture very well.
So we’ve got a goth vampire and a body building modern primitive.
The website also has a naturist, a voodoo priestess, and a witch. She’s kind of hot for a witch. More Glenda than the Wicked Witch.

I like the guy with the tats, but I think I like Avacado even more. He is the whole foods, raw foods one. Him and Fiona the witch. They are both totally legit as well. I don’t know about the vamp, although I really think he considers himself a vampyre because you can check out the chat transcript and he sounds like he really “suffers” from some serious "vampirism-related-issues (VRIs?). Anyway, it looks like it might be a good way of making alternative lifestyle at least more tolerable because you can’t hate what you know, right?
