With the TCA and Comic-Con stuff coming up, it looks like the writers are starting to break their “radio silence” just a bit so I thought it would be a good time to start up this thread, especially since this is now on the Internet (it’s the Station Six, The Orchid, Orientation Film that was shown at Comic-Con).
I hate to call this an “Orientation Film” as much as I’d like to call it “WHEN ORIENTATION FILMS GO HORRIBLY WRONG”.

I’m curious if this is actual footage to be aired on the show or just something for the Comic Con. If the former, I’m really intrigued about the dual #15 rabbits.

Wasn’t the bunny Ben faked having a heart attack with marked #15? If so, that’s a long damn time for a bunny to live. Unless, of course, they just keep making copies of them.
The clip feels gaggy. Oh, and if you’re having audio troubles, just fiddle with the volume slider- for some reason, it defaulted to mute on my machine until I adjusted the slider.

I really hope the show doesn’t go in the time travel direction. I believe the show’s creator actually debunked that at one point. I guess it could work but time travel stuff always feels so akward and always has plot holes.
I have been thinking about who is in the coffin at the end of the season three finale. I have also been rewatching the first season. In doing so, I have noticed some events that seem rather synchronous. Firstly, the episode in season one where Jack finds his dad’s coffin is titled “White Rabbit.” This aligns with the title of the season 3 finale, “Through the Looking Glass.” I have also noticed that it is in this episode that Jack’s father tells him that “he will never have what it takes to accept failure, if he is not able to save everyone.” As we see in the season 3 finale, Jack obviously does not have what it it takes to deal with the failure of not saving everyone. I also noticed that the coffins in both episodes look suspiciously similar as can be seen on lostpedia. I then noticed the amount of anguish Jack is in when he is dealing with the death of his father in “White Rabbit.” This is pretty parallel with the feelings Jack expresses in the season 3 finale. Jack opens the coffin in “White Rabbit” only to find no corpse. This infuriates Jack and he proceeds to smash the coffin with a bat. In the season 3 finale, when the funeral director asks Jack if he would like the coffin to be opened, Jack, with an extremely pained look on his face, almost like he is scared, says no. There is no one at the funeral. Jack asked his mother in “White Rabbit” why she doesn’t send one of his father’s friends to pick him up in Australia. She replies “He doesn’t have any friends anymore.” I don’t know how or why, but I believe it is Christian Shepard in that coffin. I know Jack says he is neither friend nor family, but I just know it is Christian.

I don’t know if it’s lost in the annals of the boards or not, but at some point HAM (I think) and I got into a serious discusion of plot holes, time travel, and the Terminator.
Time travel stories often have plot holes because the creator doesn’t think it through. Conversely, those who are well mapped and thought out don’t tend to have the plot holes, but people still claim they do because their brain doesn’t think that way.

I’m pissed that Richard Alpert isn’t coming back. They better at least kill him off. They can’t introduce him and then just have him vanish off the island. He was being set up as a pretty important character.
Lindelof dug himself into a hole when he couldn’t figure out how to make him more gay.
Where is it announced that Nelson Whateverhisname isn’t coming back as Alpert?

Am I particularly slow for not knowing anything about the real-life Richard Alpert? I’m assuming I just missed this being discussed before…

I know that he is on CANE or whatever that Jimmy Smits show is on CBS. I don’t think it will get canceled because it fits the CBS viewer demographic perfect (family drama).

I think at ComicCon, L&C were quoted as saying “don’t get too attached to him” because of his new show. This leads me to believe that they aren’t writing him in to many (if any) new episodes because of his commitment to Kane. They don’t want to write for him if he’s not going to be able to be in the show. The show might get canceled, but if Lost starts filming episodes in the fall he’ll still be unavailable. Yikes.
This is sucky news. He’s the one new character that I’m dying to learn more info about.
Back to the coffin…
…is it just me, or does anyone else think that coffin looked a little small?
I don’t know why this hadn’t been brought up much… unless I’m just seeing things.
