A tidbit on the casting is that Adebisi from Oz will get lost on the island this year. Expect a storyline complete with flashbacks on how he keeps his toboggon on with its characteristic tilt. Also expect the angle of the cap tilt to be the secret combination to the genetic code of the monster as well as Jack’s locker combination in Med School.

Well, I for one love your coverage of THUD but more specifically Lost.
It’s thorough without being creepy or elitist…keep up the great work.
Just to start discussion, I love how they’ve developed Locke’s character
as being pretty gray so far - he’s helpful and looks out for the well-being
of the survivors, but his obsessions and abstract thinking put him at odds
with them as well, endangering (and causing the death of) them at the same time.
He’s one of the most interesting characters I’ve seen in a long time.
I know this is nothing new, just wanted to get back into Lost discussion-mode.
I am excited for this show to return. I chalk most of its criticisms up to the fact that it was so huge of a show and got the inevitable backlash, while Veronica Mars on the other hand (which I love but was also guilty of this whole notion of dragging out answers and giving nothing tangible to the audience) got nothing but love and praise as a perfect show.
While I’m happy w/ the LOST coverage, I’d be even more happy if you could get me some info. regarding season 3 of Arrested Development. But anyways, thanks for not giving away major spoilers.

I’d say the critisisms come not from it being a huge show reaping unfair backlash, but from it not answering any questions, however minor - a huge problem for a mystery show. That and most of the flashbacks - Kate’s especially - were entirely redundant and not too entertaining.
Whereas Veronica Mars had highly entertaining case-of-the-week episodes while furthering the main story and wrapped up the Lilly Kane case satisfyingly within one season with enough plot left for next season.
Echoing the love for the LOST THUD coverage. I am not a guy who visits spoiler message boards and such (okay I did for a bit after the season ended, but I needed something damnit!) so I use THUD as my LOST information center.
I plan on getting the season 1 DVD and watching it before Season 2 in order to get both pumped up, and look for any missing little facts I may have missed. I think as long as the show gives SOME answers this season, and maybe lays off the amount of flashbacks in an hour (or 1:03 as my DVR always has listed - it really screws up when you want to record multiple shows the hour after it’s over) and spend a little more time on the island.

What I have yet to figure out is if Abrams or Lindolff actually beleive the BS they spout.

The whole Jack and Kate thing had the bottom completely pulled out from it late in the season. I could care less now.
Since being largely discouraged by chancing HOUSE M.D., I’ve watched exactly half the episodes (a couple taped) of LOST’s last season in hopes of tapping into what’s been getting everyone and their squeezes so enthused.
No such luck overall, I’m afraid. Dullsville. I mean random, continuity-indifferent, soapoperatic, alpha male dick-measuring, workmanlike, Harry Potter dullsville. Diminishing returns and lazy montages abound. Where’s the gusto, J.J.?
Not to mention quite a few dubious thespians stinking up the guest star background, more noticeably so than the norm for this kind of affair (retarded accent or lack thereof).
I kind of put up with ALIAS at first, but now, at this rate…might be in the best interest of those who’ve hopped aboard the Abrams bandwagon to consider jumping off. Before their capacities for TV tolerance really go off the deep end.
Dullsville. But small wonder, with Matthew Fox in charge. The ride so far’s been about as compellingly ‘mysterious’ as PARTY OF FIVE (ugh), really. As in redundant and shrug-inducing.

I don’t think you’re really in any position to judge.
As you said, you’ve only seen (the second) half of the season.
Most good narratives require you to see the more than half, and especially the very beginning, where all the character relationships and narrative elements are established (perhaps part of why it seems "continuity-indifferent"
.
So to reiterate, I think a “cautious beg to differ” is unjust notion to be pushing.
I’ve got season one pre-paid and on order.
I can’t wait for season two to start. Unlike most everyone else here, I like how they drag the mysteries out. It’s fun to turn them over in my head and look for possible answers.

If you need to be convinced on how a hit show with a lot of fans could work for you, simply start a thread titled “Tell me why LOST doesn’t suck” and tons of people will come in and ramble on about how cool the show is, and a bunch of other people will come in and agree with you on how much the show sucks.

So apparently Criminal Minds, Veronica Mars and Lost will all air on Wednesdays at 9 PM, further taunting my lack of TiVo and having to resort to buying VHS tapes.
