Broadcast/cable TV only, Tivo’d shows count. No rationalizations, excuses, etc. Just the facts.
I think we did this in the past, it’ll be interesting to revisit.

0 hours because my building gets no reception and I won’t pay for cable. But I gorge on TV shows once they hit DVD.
So shows streamed online don’t count? That means I only watch an hour a week .
Around 40, but a huge chunk of that is football on the weekend.
Right now, 1/2 hour of appointment TV plus as much football as I can squeeze in on Sunday. I may get 5-10 minutes of something other than that, but it’s not substantial. When Lost comes back, you can add another hour.
God…weekdays, I watch maybe half an hour before leaving for work. I get home and have the TV on pretty much 7 until midnight, save for one night maybe I’ll go out. Weekends, I’ll probably go out most of Saturday, watch maybe a few hours. Sunday I’ll watch football all fucking day (something like 9-10 hours for three games).
Sooo…2.5 + 20 + 3 + 10 = something like 36 hours?
But in all honesty, it’s probably more than that and I’m being conservative, so I’d go with 40 too.

Ditto. I end up being late to the party for a lot of shows (I didn’t see any Arrested Development until this year, but now I own all three seasons).
This past year, I’ve caught up on hundreds of hours of TV on DVD, to a depressing degree. Right now, I’ll say 40, with Battlestar Galactica and South Park on their way from Netflix for re-viewing. In other words, way too much.
The only regular shows that I watch anymore are ‘24’, ‘Lost’, and ‘House’. Eveything else is unplanned and varies. Not counting those 3 shows, I probably watch an average of about 3 hours a week. I did make a point of watching ‘The War’ when it was on, though.
I watch 8.5 hours a week, exclusive of football.
Has to be at least 40 a week during fall season.
Around 13. More if there are some good NFL matchups that week.
At home, zero. Otherwise I might watch some if I’m over at a friend’s house. I don’t count Sunday football, because I’m at the bar for the booze and social aspect, and rarely pay too much attention to the game(s).
But yeah, I’m a total fucking internet junkie, and enjoy video games. It always drives me nuts when someone(who watches an assload of TV) acts like they’re inferior mediums. At least they aren’t totally passive.
Are we counting movies taped off of TV? I Tivo a ton of movies from HBO, Showtime, Starz, TCM, IFC, etc. I generally watch at least one movie per day. If we’re counting those… figure 15-20 hours per week of movies, and 15-20 hours otherwise.
Probably 8 or 9, tops.
Nothing on the weekends, and several nights a week I only end up watching TV for an hour or so.
I’m at 15 hours of just network shows right now.
It used to be a lot. I think during the last one of these threads, it was somewhere near 35 hours.
Now, it’s about 20-22 hours. That’s including Postseason Baseball and Weekend Football.
Way, way too many hours of television. I’m a bit of an insomniac and will sit there watching absolute garbage for no reason. Lets call it 50. I’m ashamed.
Sunday: Dexter
Monday: Weeds, Chuck, Heroes
Tuesday: Pushing Daisies, Bones, House, Gossip Girl, Reaper
Wednesday: Kitchen Nightmares, Dirty Sexy Money, Kid Nation
Thursday: 30 Rock/Office, Ugly Betty
Friday: Friday Night Lights
Saturday: SNL
Daily: PTI (2.5 hours/week), Daily Show/Colbert (5hrs/wk), Keith Olbermann (5 hrs/wk)
Thats 28.5 right there, and there’s no way I do twenty more. I’ll ammend my estimate to about 35. Still nuts though.
Right now, I’d estimate between twelve and fourteen – although a lot of it is TIVO’d stuff, and I have a pretty heavy backlog on the DVR. (I still have to catch up with Dr. Who, for example.) Now, that’s because it’s premiere season, I’m trying to keep tabs on a lot of stuff I’ll probably drop or replace by midseason (Private Practice, K-Ville).
Rath, there is no way you watch 14 hours of television a week. You seem to watch more hour long shows than that.
