The resolution of the case was kind of boring but otherwise it was a fantastic episode. Cameron is such a tattle-tale.
Tonight’s episode was the first I got to see in a while. The show definitely has a formula set-up at this point that makes it feel like you can jump in and start watching any episode at anytime, so it’s the moments and dialogue that get us from A to B to C etc. that determine how good of an episode it is. So tonight’s episode kind of swerving at points was pretty nice.
- To combat the ‘House is never wrong’ meme, we get the false diagnoses over the father’s incest causing post-traumatic stress in the girl and her body subconsciously faking it. We also get some of the most vulnerability I think I’ve ever seen from House with him being nearly in tears hiding his increasingly atrophied leg from his crew.
- Man, that final solution was MESSED UP. Though it did lead to House’s line of the night telling the dad that he’s a homo now.
- And I LOVED the ending twist with the saline placebo that he incorrectly gave the girl/boy/Clay Aiken being effective on his own pain. Implying that what makes him…well, Houseish, is there mentally and internally for him to uncover, only if he chooses to do so.
Slightly off topic, but after Raw tonight, USA reran the ‘poison pants’ episode that was mentioned toward the beginning of the thread, so I got to actually see what that was about. I can see why the idea of kids buying cheapo pants from a guy in a truck out front of the school can be outlandish. But it’s hard to hate on any episode with that great subplot of the granny whose brain is getting eaten with returning syphilis(deremission? reremission? mission?), causing her to be horny for House. Not to mention her son being played by the bad guy from Ghostbusters II.
Last night’s episode was great. In fact I think I would prefer to see House on Monday nights at 8 pm. I mean, it finally gives me something to watch on a Monday night.
It also wouldnt conflict with my Supernatural on Tuesdays.
Yeah, that was another great episode. I’m glad they decided not to go down the “House is hella addicted” road again. The scar on House’s leg is fucked up. And I really wish Cameron would stop dressing like a schoolmarm.
The bit with House and Wilson where Wilson is “voicing” God in the microphone while HOuse is getting an MRI was just plain awesome.
Little bits like this make this show special.
I love the actor playing Wilson. I have the urge to watch Much Ado About Nothing again. It’s great that they’re giving him a bit more meat in his scenes with House this season.
The fact that House didn’t just catagoricaly deny Cutty’s placebo worked was a point for what makes House likeable…he’s a grade A ass, but he’s also smart enough (which is why he’s an ass) to realize when someone else has slapped him with the “hey idiot!” sign. Most asses aren’t.
They kept giving us a big clue, but subtly…her lack of menstration popped up idly a few times, her ovaries being undersized was casually tossed in…nice work.
They’re not keeping House on Mondays…that was just to make room for American Idiot. Er, Idol.
MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING? Yeah, right. You know you’re really popping in your copy of the Stallone-Harlin masterpiece DRIVEN instead.
Last Week’s House was quite funny.
Seeing House get a knee to the groin is something waaaaaay overdue.
This week’s highlights: Cuddy’s reaction to the wife of the man House told was being cheated on with their kid’s karate sensei. The difference between Beyonce ants and Halle Berry ants. The way that freaky opening transferred to unnecessary shock jolt to tender statement of the true love between a couple who’ve known each other since high school to reflection of the passionate hate the wife had for him under the happy surface. Instead of the usual changing diagnoses from A to B to C etc. as the hour goes on, House and Foreman stuck to their guns on their guesses on the cause. The discussion between Cameron and Samantha Mathis about threesomes making me wish this show aired on HBO or FX.
And I hope we get plenty more of Wilson and House shacking up together. Banter between those two is TV gold with minimal effort.
yeah the odd couple thing going on between them is great. i’m really glad that house actually brought up the fact that wilson can afford to get a place of his own.
House going “Oh snap” may be just about one of the best things ever.
Something about tonight’s episode really had my interest piqued but I’m not able to watch it. Can someone PM me the ins and outs later tonight?
Man, that was one of the best episodes of the season. Lots of great dialogue and the illness was like an end-of-game boss fight. You think you’ve won and it changes shape to come back at you.
Next week looks awesome, too.
when house finally allowed wilson into the apartment i fucking lost it when wilson freaked out yelling “you still haven’t done the dishes!”. i could watch those two all day.
I started watching this show just in the last couple of months and it has become an instant favorite. I didn’t know what to expect, having seen Hugh Larie mostly in shows like Jeeves and Wooster, Blackadder, and A Bit of Frye and Laurie. The one performance that shows hints of House in it is Laurie’s small supporting role as Mr. Palmer, the grumpiest former MP ever, in Ang Lee’s “Sense and Sensibility” (grumpy mostly because he is married to Charlotte, the most annoying woman in England).
Charlotte Palmer: Oh, if only this rain would stop!
Mr. Palmer: If only you would stop.
I have to say, even when the medical mystery of the week becomes pedestrian, the House snark remains addictive.
the end of last week’s episode with House realizing he is sitting in Urine and then grabbing Wilson’s pillow to sit on had me rolling LONG after the show had ended.
Juvenile Pranks are way underated.
“A metaphor is just a way to make you think what will happen is scarier than what will actually happen. I wish I had a good metaphor to explain that better…”
Cameron: “Do you have any idea what it feels like to have a 6’ hose shoved into your large intestine?”
House: “No. But I now have a much greater respect for whatever basketball player you dated in college.”
Pretty good episode this week. Cameron bringing the bitchiness back at Foreman for him beating her getting a write-up on the “so courageous” girl with cancer helped keep the show crackling above normal standard operating procedure. And the double punch of surprise endings, with the girlfriend knowing about Hannah’s impending breaking-up with her and going through with the liver donation anyway to snare her eternal gratitude and Foreman not apologizing to Cameron to return your status quo, was wicked. And I can’t hate on any episode that gives us the Black Plague as the diagnosis.
The show’s definitely on a roll heading into the home stretch of the season.
I loved House calling the Asian girl “chopstick”. Hilarious.
Even better:
Dr. Cameron, accompanied by the other two doctors: “We have anal bleeding”
House: “All of you?”
