Now this was a script I liked.
Its like x-men, in a more believable world.
The pilot leaves alot of great avenues to explore as well.

It’s about people — albeit ones with extraordinary quirks. “I kind of want to stay away from the superhero aspect,” says Kring. “It’s about very ordinary people all over the world who literally discover that they have special powers, and it’s their dealing with that.” The superheroes, er, ordinary people include a 30-year-old male nurse who believes he can fly — and, unlike R. Kelly, really can; a 28-year-old junkie who has the ability to paint images of the future; a 33-year-old Las Vegas showgirl who can do incredible things with mirrors; a 24-year-old Japanese comic-book geek who literally makes time stand still; a 31-year-old inmate who can transport himself through walls (eat your heart out, Michael Scofield); and a 17-year-old cheerleader who defies death at every turn (think of Bruce Willis in Unbreakable, only with blonde hair and big pom-poms). I CAN RELATE: You didn’t hear? I, too, was born with unnatural abilities. All kidding aside (wink, wink), as Kring points out, “It’s pretty grounded in reality. Part of what makes it really feel very real is that these people’s lives should mirror your own; you should be able to see your ordinary life reflected on screen.” IT’S ALL ONE BIG PUZZLE: And you know the deal with puzzles. “It’s a big interconnected saga,” says Kring. “They’re all drawn together towards a destiny of saving the world.” And not to OD on the Lost parallels, but Kring adds, “It’s extremely serialized.” IT’S SCARY: What would an extremely serialized show about superheroes, er, ordinary people (I have to stop doing that!) be without a creepy antagonist? Heroes’ big baddie is described as a “Max Von Sydow-type” whose trademark accessory is a pair of horned rimmed glasses. And although his intentions aren’t made crystal clear in the pilot, one thing is certain: He wants to get his hands on some of that super DNA. ONCE AGAIN, IT SENT A SHIVER DOWN MY SPINE: “It” being the final scene. Provided Kring doesn’t tinker too much with the script — I can’t stress enough that I read an early draft — the climactic sequence, as inevitable as it may seem, will make you stand up and shout, “It’s my new Lost!” And the next words out of your mouth better be: “Ausiello was right!”
Anyone else heard, read, or seen anything on this? I saw a really choppy video clip on youtube, but its gone now, as far as I can tell.
EDIT: one more thing. Although he doesn’t mention it, in the pilot we also see people who become evil after getting their powers, which is cool, I think.
my bad, I had my noscipt extension turned on. It looks like it could be great. My only fear is that it’ll turn into a “new villian of the week” kind of show and lose focus on an overall story. Where were you able to find the script?
Hooray for Hayden Panattierre- we went to high school together. Never met her, as she was much younger than me, but it’s cool that maybe, one day, people will ask me what it was like to go to high school with Hayden Panattierre and I’ll be able to gloriously lie. Apparently she plays an indestructible cheerleader- here’s hoping they get a lot of mileage out of that and spend the budget just throwing tanks and helicopters at her.
the clip that was removed from youtube involved her, and it was exactly what i read in the script – she jumps off a cliff, breaking all her bones. She then stands up and uses the good arm to pop all the broken and dislocated pieces back in place.
It was cool and chilling in the script, but in the clip I saw it was barely discernable through youtube’s poor video quality. But you could really hear the popping and cracking.
I was wondering when they’d do a superhero show more in the vein of Unbreakable instead of the usual WB Smallville/Aquaman stuff.
Greg Grunberg is in this, so I’m in, and my girlfriend loves her some Milo Ventimiglia so she’ll be checking this out as well. Good to see Adrian Pasdar getting some work that isn’t a TV movie of the week. He was great in Profit, a short-lived Fox show a decade back.

No problem, and I think the unbreakable comparison is extremely valid. I’d say “unbreakable meets x-men” is the perfect summary.
I just watched the 8 min. or whatever trailer that NBC puts on it’s promo reel (I work for a NBC/CBS station). It’s ok, but it doesn’t really sell it. They try to focus on too many characters in it and aren’t clear on any powers or motive. I think the idea is great and I WILL watch the first episode, but the promo is kinda the suck. However, they did have the cheerleader falling. It’s “filmed” by someone with a camcorder. It was rather cool. I just hope the cheerleading outfit doesn’t become her costume. It looks silly.
Studio 60 looks fantastic, by the way, and the new Tine Fey show and Goldblum show look entertaining.
I don’t know if the promotional blitz that is being prepared for the new NBC series Heroes proves that the network has the utmost confidence in the show or if it is trying to shore up support because it stinks on ice. Either way, it will allow curious viewers to download the show long before it appears on television. Beginning on September 1st, 24 days before the show’s premiere, users of iTunes will be able to download the first episode of the Heroes, a drama about a group of people who realize they have superhuman powers. Users will also be able to download behind-the-scenes extras of the show. When Heroes actually airs it will be sponsored by Nissan and feature limited commercials. This isn’t the only promotion that is being done. Beginning in August the network will pummel movie theater chains across America with Heroes popcorn bags, promotional cards and commercials that play over lobby TV monitors. Some theaters may also show a 2 1/2 minute trailer of the series prior to movie starts. According to John Miller, NBC’s chief marketing officer, the network wants to generate a buzz across a variety of platforms long before Heroes ever airs. Yeah, I’m guessing potential suckfest here for Heroes. I’ll change my mind when I see Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip bars of soap at my local Hilton.
What they showed at the booth during Comic-Con actually looked really good for a network pilot. I’m still on the fence as to whether I’ll be able to sit down and watch it every week, but it might be worth giving a shot.
One of the problems since Lost hit big is that everyone’s trying to do these mutliple character genre-flavored dramas that slowly pay out over the course of a season. But I really think Lost is an anomaly – audiences generally don’t have that sort of attention span, or the shows just aren’t interesting enough to merit the slow burn. Look at Invasion, Surface, Threshold… all RIP.
I don’t know really. In one scene she looked in a mirror and it’s was basically a double but not actually her. It was a new character in itself. Later she blacked out and all this crazy shit went down.
