I would’ve loved to have been in the audience for this.
It’s short, but sweet. The score is what really floored me, though. It’s just getting better with every game.
And I’m ever thankful Bungie’s ending it at Number 3. Then again, considering Halo 2 hasn’t left the XBox Live top 5 since it released, this game will probably last us for the rest of our natural lives anyway.
I really liked the music but this trailer didn’t really do much for me. Maybe it’s because I’m tired or maybe it’s just because Halo 2 didn’t blow me away like I thought it would. Also, 2007 is far away, especially when you consider that it will probably be released in the fourth quarter.
Very nice but the trailer for Halo 2 is still my favorite game trailer (altough I didn’t like the game).

Colour me unimpressed. I mean shit, I’m going to a buy a 360 for this game regardless but to me it looks a helluva lot like the Halo 2 teaser.

…and it just looked alright. Doesn’t look next gen at all. Fuck bungie. They have put together 2 mediocre single player experiences and I expect nothing but the same for part 3.
The real question is, what they have planned for multiplayer. Halo 2 has almost knocked out golden eye and smash brothers melee as my most played games of all time because it is just so perfectly balanced online (when ppl aren’t hacking).
It’s hard to find a game where somebody isn’t cheating. That’s the main reason I hardly play anymore.
I’ll never understand why people think it’s fun to fuck up everyone else’s game.

I rarely see cheating, unless it’s someone occasionally hiding the bomb or getting it stuck where no one can get to it. I’ve witnessed blatant hacking(super fast chiefs, flying chiefs) maybe 5 times in the tons of games I’ve played. Mybe I’m just lucky?
I’ve said it before, but here we go again… One improvement Halo 3 needs is to simply not allow quitting(without turning the system completely off), and make it really hurt your rank. Or a better suggestion would be to make it so you can’t play for ten minutes if you quit. If you really have to go do something, do it for ten minutes and come back. The amount of games I’ve lost, because my entire team quit, is totally ludicrous.
How does the 360 reputation system work? Could that potentially weed out quitters/cheaters?
Sorry, I’m derailing this sucker. I have pretty much zero interest in the 360 as of now, but like many others, Halo 3 will probably suck me into the fold.
Maybe it’s just me, but where is the next-gen graphical kick to the nuts? Sure, the graphics aren’t crap, its just that they dont seem super-impressive either.
Only thing I liked about the trailer was the score. “Understated” is the tone Bungie said they were setting with the teaser. They know that the legions of Halo nerds around the world would have creamed themselves even if it was just a 30sec clip of MC mowing a lawn.
I’m hoping that the trailer they show at next years E3 is better.
Just watched it. A few caveats first–I don’t care all that much about Halo. I played through the first, barely cracked the single player in Halo 2 and only played multiplayer for about a month as well. Also, though I own all three systems I am generally gay for all things Nintendo and am totally on board with the Wii and its sort-of-OK graphics. I don’t own an Xbox 360 or an HDTV but I’ve seen it in action on kiosks plenty of times.
So with all that having been said.. visually? This looks friggin’ unbelievable to me. Did we all watch the large 105MB Quicktime trailer? Why is my Nintendo-loving, Halo-"meh"ing ass the only one who thought, “JESUS CHRIST”? Weird.

Try the Lost Planet demo. I think it kicks serious graphical ass, especially when you start driving the various mechs.
Speaking as someone who loves the Halo story universe, even going as far as to read the novels – two of which were actually very good – the teaser was perfect. It was poignant and beautiful and haunting, hinting at what should be a grim tone for the trilogy’s finale. That it wasn’t just a prerendered animation was a nice touch.
I’m happy for the taste they gave us, but it just makes the wait worse in a lot of ways.

Did anyone else download the large quicktime version from bungie.net and have problems with it? I get an error saying it can’t open the file because it’s not a movie.
Watching it in HD on my 360, this thing looks phenomenal, considering the game doesn’t come out for a year and a half.

No, but I did feel a bit violated by clicking the NoScript extension on firefox to “temporarily allow microsoft.com”.
I like the tagline at the end, since it can be used as a negative for those pissed at the non-ending of the last game.
Can we please have a year with NO fucking metagame nonsense, though?
