The pilot is floating out there on the intarwubz and after having watched it I agree. To be more exact, it’s 1/2 The X Files, 1/4 Alias and 1/4 Lost.

I loved it. It’s totally my type of show. It is very X-Files-ish, but I’d say it’s more like taking the pseudo-science mythology from Lost and spinning it off into another crazy direction. It’s like J.J. said “okay, it’s clear there’s a fucking HUGE load of Lost viewers who go nuts for this mythology, let’s make a show about that.” Teleportation, wormholes, futuristic technology – I love that the only limit is their imagination. And the great thing is, the story itself is so grounded and personal to the main character. It’s her mission, and we’re routing for her to figure it all out.

I’m sure I’m gonna love this show when I see it.. I’m just not looking forward to when FOX finds some piss poor excuse for cancelling it whether its merited or not.
Abrams has earned enough goodwill from me TV-wise, I’ll certainly check it out. Throw in Lance Reddick, and it’s almost a guarantee that I’ll watch the first season. (Although how will this affect Reddick’s role on Lost?)
I liked it a lot, seems to be set fifteen minutes into the future. Lance Reddick was great here. And any show that gives props to ReGenesis (Peter Outerbridge cameo) is good in my book.
I had wondered what the music over much of this ep was - its John Murphy’s score from Sunshine - good stuff.

Since they’re from the same company, I’m sure they thought about that. Besides, how many epsiodes was Reddick in this season? 3? I’m sure he can fit that in.

I know I recognized music from LOST being used as well - the score during one of the bigger surprises near the end of the pilot was the same music LOST uses right as they’re about to hit you in the head with a brick of revelation.
For those seeing this pre-air version, it’ll be interesting to see how this changes when it airs for real. For one, that score is definitely a temp track, so the music will be entirely different. For another, this was shot before FOX decided to cut about 10 minutes of commercials from the show, so the real premiere will either have cut scenes restored, or new scenes shot (and it can use a few extra minutes, some of the big decisions take place off-camera). I’m also curious who they end up casting as the head of the super (villain?) corporation.
Looks like another winner for Abrams. More ALIAS than LOST, but that’s fine with me - Abrams can make a new series similar to LOST in… say 2 years?
Normally I wouldn’t post pirated material, but with the highly likely possibility that this was leaked by FOX, I figure what the heck. The pilot episode is out and about.
Just finished watching it. Pretty good so far. I’ll hold my breath to see how long Fox keeps it on the air.
It was fine. Very X-Filesy, but that’s far from bad. My biggest problem was Jackson’s lines. WAY to quippy. Once they get to the lab, just about every line he has is a one liner and it started to get REAL annoying.
Watched this last night and hot damn was I impressed. Seemed like a more fun X-files without aliens…yet at least. Totally dug it and even Josh Jackson didn’t make me want to punch him in the face. After we were done watching it my girl looked at me and said: “So how long do we have to wait to see the second episode?!” We loved it.

My girlfriend had the same reaction after I showed it to her.
Warren Ellis posted the openings to some British Sci Fi shows this morning. One of them, Doomwatch, reminded me a lot of the concept for Fringe.
Thought some of you might be interested if you like what you have seen of Fringe so far.
Reddick had a pretty cool line-
“You’re wasting my time and your breath”
Cannot wait to use that on a customer soon!

If details like a temporary score bother you so much, you probably should just avoid leaked, unfinished pilots.
