I can’t find an official anouncement yet but they are reporting on the firefly boards that the show has been cancelled.
Wow fastlane lives on while this show gets shitcanned, what a world we live in.
Don’t you worry. Fastlane is being moved to Fridays so they’re next. I actually find it very entertaining.

As much as the cast, the staff, and my not so secret lover Minear, I honor those guys, and hope to get them back on board. So for now, I proudly take my place beside Profit, The Ben Stiller Show, the Tick, and Action. But I won’t rest until I’ve found safe harbour (no, not the Gregory Harrison show) for this vessel. For my own personal take, Fox is probably losing a viewer. The only thing they really have left that I’ve been fond of for a long time is Simpsons and that’s been hit and miss for a couple of years now. I’m not dumb enough to swear I’ll never watch them again or boycott them, etc. I’ll go where good TV is, but I’m recognizing more and more that it ain’t Fox.
I sent an e-mail to UPN this morning. I’m not terribly fond of where Trek has ended up (and considering I’ve loved Trek since I could pretend a calculator was <insert trek prop here> that’s sayting something. But they already have a relationship with Joss Whedon through Buffy and Firefly could add to their sci fi stable.
I’m beginning to think being Amish wouldn’t be so bad. If the future of TV is the likes of American Idol and Joe Millionaire, I don’t have anything to look forward to.
Dang. This show is entertaining. Good luck to Joss in finding a new home.
incredibly, Fox supported Dark Angel for two excruciating seasons. apparently Cameron has a lot more pull than Whedon.
hopefully some other outlet has been anticipating this action and will swoop in to grab it and allow it to thrive.

Fox sucked way before any “Firefly” cancellation.
Well surprisingly Dark Angel out performed Firefly in ratings. Its too bad, but I can see that there wasn’t much hope. The show is a tough sell for people already, and then its tied to that nightmare Friday time slot. But maybe there is hope since the show is actually cheaper to produce than either Angel or Buffy.

I really, really enjoyed the hell outta this show.
I’m saddened by the news. Today was my first episode and i absolutely loved it. I wasn’t quite familiar with any of the characters. But by the end of the show i felt as though i’d been watching since the premiere episode. Just another example of great tv failing to find its place because of a lack of support from its network. If anyone ever collects all the episodes please let me know. I’d love to see them all.

Really? That’s really surprising, since (especially the last month or so) Firefly’s been looking and feeling almost as impressive as any motion picture. That shootout in last week’s show was particularly elaborate…I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite so action-packed on network TV.
Bummed, but frankly I think a “lesser” network really is the proper home for Firefly, the way it was for Buffy. You just can’t nurture stuff into cult hits on mainstream TV anymore…you need a network that doesn’t expect 20 million viewers every hour.
Also, if Firefly goes away for a while, that’ll give Joss time to concentrate on giving us a slam-bang finale for Buffy.
I’m still floored that Fox cancelled this. Tonight’s episode blew me away. This is the yardstick against which I’ll measure future sci fi. Keep in mind that I have been a Trek fan as long as I can remember. Raised on classic from a wee lad, TNG hit in my high school years. Since then it’s been a declining interest for me. About the only Trek I really like these days is in book form. Still, as much as I have enjoyed trek, I loved seeing a show that took the sci fi formula and blew it apart.
Ah well… based on feedback on the board, it looks like UPN is the leading contender. Rumor has it that is where Mr. Whedon is trying to shop Firefly to and supposedly there is interest. Check out the Firefly Immediate Assistance website for more info on where to send those post cards. In my post card I acted like I actually watched Enterprise… bleck, patooiee… I feel vaguely dirty now… A Firefly lead in or vice versa might be the only chance of me sitting down to Enterprise again.
Not ready to write this one off yet. May be tilting at windmills, but isn’t denial, etc. part of the stages of dealing with grief?
Details on the viewing party for next Friday’s two hour pilot, Serenity are still not concrete, but I will post them here when they are. The folks at Firefly Immediate Assistance have asked us to take photos and send them in so that they can share them with Mutant Enemy to show the fanbase that exists even with Fox’s lack of promotion and ultimate jettison of the show. The original hope was to try to get the local Fox affiliate interested in coming, but that’s highly unlikely now…
Last night’s episode was just great. Firefly features some of the snappiest dialogue on television, nevermind sci-fi.
I hope it finds a home.

It’s highly unlikely that the SciFi Chan would pick it up, given the president doesn’t like Space Shows (go figure.) Is USA also under the same company? I know USA owned the SFC at one point, don’t know if they got bought out, too.
We ARE still getting the pilot next week, right? When Fox cancled Profit (nice mention, Joss), they replaced the next advertised episode with a “When Hello Kitty Attacks” or some such.

Yeah, I was surprised as well because for a TV series it has great special effects and fairly elaborate action scenes. I guess Buffy and Angel are probably more expensive due to the actors being around for 7 years, and therefore making more money.
Anyway the show just gets better and better. I hope it gets picked up by another network because I’m very intrigued by River and the Blue Sun plotline.
I really should have given this show a chance.

Question though: Does anyone think that MAYBE certain ::cough:: plot and characterization problems on Buffy and Angel may decrease with Joss having only 2 shows to look after?
