I have to admit, I was happy when I heard that family guy was coming back. I missed it. Boy, did my happiness wear off.
I watch it once in a while now, I might get one laugh in. Thats it. It’s fallen since it has come back, nowhere near a simpsons level, but still enough for me to skip it when I find out its on.
I know a couple of people who still insist on sitting on the couch on sunday nights and watching simpsons/family guy/american dad. Those are the people that hold on to their last shred of hope and say things like this.
Regarding the Simpsons:
“well yeah, it does suck, but there are some moments”
Regarding Family Guy:
“It’s so awesome. they haven’t lost a step”
Regarding American Dad:
“It’s getting better”
Guess what?
Simpsons- no, they do suck. it hasn’t been good in like 6 years. There are no moments.
Family Guy- They lost plenty of steam when they came back. Stewie is like alcohol, good in small doses but too much will fuck you up
American Dad: No it isn’t. You might as well call it Family Guy leftover show.
I think the age of funny cartoons is done. Will something bring it back? I hope so.
Oh yeah, half the shit on Adult Swim is juvenile. That doesn’t count

Not to quibble (well, maybe a little…), but with the exception of japanese anime (and only a select portion, at that), along with certain seasons of the Simpsons and Futurama, what animation isn’t “juvenile?”

King of the Hill, Boondocks, Dr. Katz, South Park (occasionally), Venture Bros, and maybe a biased vote for The Tick.
Besides, the quibbling observation is irrelevant since he is only focused on that select few animation that isn’t completely juvenile (i.e. most of the Williams Street stuff on Adult Swim).

Seriously, did Williams Street hit a point where anybody could air an animated series or something? 12 Oz. Mouse? Squidbillies? Perfect Hair Forever? It’s just awful, awful garbage. And the best part about Adult Swim is that they have the nerve to slag other animated series during commercial breaks. The only worthwhile thing on Adult Swim these days is Futurama… and, to a lesser extent, Venture Brothers.
Oh, on a related note, Family Guy? One-note jokes, pop-culture references, Transformers, no soul, yadda, yadda, yadda.
