Hey look, another show that eventually populated itself with unlikable characters who make insanely stupid decisions. And I as a viewer wish they would be smart not because I care about the characters, but because it would mean that they might advance the fucking plot.
Do you think making MEDELLIN a huge bomb was their way of acknowledging how bad the show has been and getting back to what made it good? The beach stuff was a nice start. I just wish the show wasn’t so caught up in its own dramas and soap operas. That’s not what’s interesting.

I think this was a great way to start the season. I like the idea and journey of Vince trying to get back on top. We know he will, but the question is how.
It’s not a bad way to start the season and I dig the arc they’re building (going from the highest grossing movie of all time to the biggest flop of all time), but this was the season premiere and it already feels like they’re stretching the story. I swear they were on the beach for half the fucking episode. I don’t mind stretching the story as long as I’m entertained along the way, something that the first two seasons were great at doing.
And no, I don’t think Medellin tanking was a response to anything. I think they had planned out since day one. One season does one thing to Vince, the next season does the opposite.
I liked it too. After a bad season 4 we needed it.
I can’t stand Drama anymore, but Ari and E being more similar each day interests me.
I could have watched 12 episodes at the beach.
If there was one thing they got right in this episode, it’s tits.
I didn’t bother with Entourage in season four because I found the Billy Walsh character so grating and the plot lines became more and more ridiculous, especially as far as Drama was concerned. The failure of Medellin at least makes these characters struggle for something and not seem like a bunch of oblivious babies spoiler for a fall.
The show is clearly nowhere near as good as it was in seasons two and partially three, but it may become watchable again. We’ll see.

Exactly what I was thinking. It was a pretty dry episode, but certainly seemed like they’re aiming for a new direction. I don’t have high hopes, but considering the options they left themselves at the end of last season, I think they chose the best one.
I think it’s obvious the intention was for this season to be about Harvey and E working together to make the movie a classic. But Harvey is sadly old news, and moving past that story point has opened this season up for a much better arc.
After suffering through Weeds this season (pure masochism), I can say that I thought this episode was awesome. I’ve never had a real problem with Entourage and I enjoy it as the show to shamelessly indulge in… so I guess I’m glad its back.
And in any case, the phrase “skull fuck” should be use more often in TV.
I thought the third season of Weeds was pretty terrible and this season has been on par with the first.

Really? A full season of that? I figured whatever they did regarding Medellin’s critical/popular reception, they’d start the season with the film being out. Glad they want the direction that they did. Hope it gets better along the way.
Already better than all of Season 4. And count me in the Drama is tired camp. E’s changes definitely have me interested for the rest of the season.
I can’t help but wonder if I’m feeling favorable to the opening ep, after hating most of last season, because it came right after staring and blinking at TRUE BLOOD for an hour previous. Not hard to entertain after that lead in.
Much better tits than True Blood, that’s for damn sure.
I pretty much stopped watch this show, but someone told me Kim Coates was in the first episode of the new season.
He is, and he’s great.
About the only thing I found interesting in the episode (aside from reverse cowgirl) was Vince being used to lowball Hirsch.
I’ll watch again next week. And again, I’ll wish it were a better show.
