I just caught up with this show and it kicked my ass. Looks like I missed the boat on the discussion of this show due to the purge hence the new topic. Some things I loved about it…

The nonlinear nature of the show: I love the structure of the show and how your perspective of things in the present change from episode to episode. The one scene in particular is Glen Close losing it at her beach house. In one episode, we think it’s one thing and then a few eps later we realize what it really was.

Glenn Close: Quite possibly the best work she’s ever done. She is on fire here!

Ted Danson: Inspired casting. Never did I think Sam Malone could nail the corporate tycoon role but he did.

This is by far one of my favorite series on FX. Just incredible stuff.

Thankfully FX renewed it for two more seasons. I don’t know if Danson will be involved but Glenn Close is all you really need at the end of the day. I think that jumps in time were fantastic and I hope they can keep that same format in S2. It really added something to the show.

Danson’s evil charm was a huge part of last season. I hope he survived that shot and comes back.

Loved this show!! Was totally hooked from week to week. Even though it required the viewer to pay very close attention other wise you’d be completely lost. Glad Glenn Close won the Golden Globe and was happy the show was nominated for best drama.

Hope it returns soon with a new season. Though i hope F/X doesn’t make us wait like forever like they do with The Shield.

I thought I’d resurrect this with the season premiere on Wednesday and all.

I got the first season of this as the free half of a Buy One TV Season Get One TV Season free deal on Amazon. I’d seen bits and pieces of episodes and really dug them so I figured what the heck. I’m hoping I’ll have it watched by Wednesday (I’m in the middle of nowhere until classes start on the 12th, I’ll probably be caught up on this AND Sons of Anarchy by then).

I know Rath used it as part of his explanation for his “Good Show Bad Actors, Bad Show Good Actors” thread but other than that and the few replies in here it seems like not many people around here are talking about it.

I still think it’s a bad show, but the new additions to the cast – William Hurt, Olyphant, John Doman – are going to make me watch it anyway.

Actually, with THE SHIELD retired and THE RICHES canceled, DAMAGES is now FX’s best show. Although, I bet I’m really going to miss Zeljko this season, even with all the big names they’ve brought on board.

They have alot to live up to in S2 and am curious how long the FBI investigation will last. Can’t imagine Patty not seeing it coming.

And FX is being stingy with no preview clips.

Riches was cancelled last November, which sucks, because I really liked that show.

Anya, go back and look at some of the statements I’ve made about Grey’s. I’ve been off the love train for that show for a while now, although it’s one I do try to keep an eye on because it’s so goddamn popular. You want to mock my enthusasim for something that’s not great/gay/uneven, Gossip Girl is your go to show now. Thanks.

I like this show. I thought Zeljko’s accent was a bit much but it was a very good mystery.

Still makes me chuckle a bit that Marimow from The Wire is the hitman in this show.

THE RICHES was fantastic. Really underrated. I still mourn the loss … probably because that gypsy bastard Quinn from season two is now showing up regularly on FRINGE.

I’ll be interested in seeing how season two of DAMAGES is constructed. Will they try something that again cuts back and forth between time frames? Or will it be more of a straight-ahead narrative this season? Hmm …

I’m about halfway through the first season and I’d definitely say it’s good but it’s far from great. If they’d miscast this it could be a real disaster though. The characters and performances are definitely the highlight.

They’re also what put me over the edge about catching up with the show. Earlier on it was like “Yeah, I’d like to watch that show. I’m curious”. As soon as I saw that William Hurt, Tim Olyphant and Marcia Gay Harden were joining the show it went from “When I get to it” to “Fuck that, I want to watch it NOW!”.

After the 1/2 way mark the show gets better and better.

I almost gave up on it around half way through, but the end kicked my arse.

I cant wait for it to start tomorrow. It will indeed fill some of the hole left in my heart from the departure of The Shield.

Today’s USA Today answered my question. Season two will have time shifts again. Only this time, we’ll be seeing flash-forwards, not flash-backs. Apparently, sometime in the future, Ellen commits some horrible act of violence (which we’ll get to see early on … probably the end of episode one). Throughout the season, it will slowly be revealed how she got to that point. Sounds pretty cool.

That was worth the wait. Again a ton of questions and we are back at square one.

-I’m guessing William Hurt is the father of Julia Hewes. Also he killed his hot ass wife.

-Sheriff Bullock wasn’t nearly angry enough.

-Patty is seriously fucked up and I hope that they allow her character to descend further into madness. Her hallucinating Ray Fiske was in the office was suitably creepy. Not as messed up as the suicide last season but good enough.

And I can’t wait for the guys from The Wire to show up.

Won’t find any argument from me.

My biggest wish for this season was that Ellen would become more proactive, it felt like she stumbled upon most everything in terms of revelations by accident. It seems like they’re taking steps in that direction.

I’m intrigued to see more of Olyphant too.
