First up is the Larry David Sandwich at 10:00 tonight.
Some restaurant has a gimmick where every sandwich is named after a celebrity. Larry is not a fan of the Larry David sandwich.
This should be awesome!
I have watched this show from the beginning and loved every minute of it.
Easily one of my most anticipated fall shows. The preview with Larry arguing with Ted Danson over which of their sandwiches tastes better had me laughing out loud. The fact that Ted Danson even had a sandwhich named after him was equally as funny. I can’t wait for tonight.
Wish I had HBO. I’m gonna get my buddies to tape it for me.
IMO, Season 2 was the most solid season of the bunch. While some say season 4 was a letdown, I felt it had some funny episodes. I dug the part when Larry snatched the food from the blind guy while they ate lunch.
I think season 2 was the best, followed by three or four.
Chet’s shirt alone almost makes the third season for me.
And I am extremely excited for the new season.
And the extras episode following it is hilarious.

Agreed. It picked up at the end and funny bits were sprinkled throughout but it was wrapped up very uncreatively. Susie was sadly subdued.
That was a tiny bit funnier than the first and only episode of Lisa Kudrow’s The Comeback. Makes Dave Chapelle look smart for leaving early.
While not as good as anything in season four, still some pretty funny stuff throughout. I love it when Larry makes fun of Richard Lewis. I didn’t get the whole adoption-thing though.
Larry was just thrilled at the idea that he wasn’t related to the crazy people in his family.
I can relate to that.
Man, that sandwhich sounds disgusting. Any normal person would flip out if it was named after them.
Some good moments:

David’s interaction with the little boy at the party/service. I like that David has no problems arguing with kids.

David asking Jeff and Suzie about answering the phone during sex and then not getting the support he was looking for.

It was way over the top, but the nanny dying made me laugh.
not sure why the initial 4 repliers didnt like it, i found it up to par.
I think I laughed out loud twice. I was hoping for more stuff about the near-death experience, instead it was just a means to get Larry to go to Temple. Larry’s Dad isn’t funny at all, neither is Jeff’s constantly-shrill wife.
If Larry was adopted, it could mean that he’s technically not even Jewish, which could provide some interesting avenues to explore, but I don’t think they’re headed that way.
Jeff’s wife is very funny, I think.
Richard Lewis’ reaction to Larry being adopted was my favorite part.

She’s just so one-note, though. Always there to loudly and nasally disagree with whatever Larry is doing.
Last night’s episode was also kinda so-so for me. I laughed a lot more at Extras, actually. There’s a kind of, I dunno, desperate feel about Curb Your Enthusiasm so far this season. I can’t quite put my finger on it…
At first, I was disapointed that last night seemed to be covering such familiar ground, but as it builds, it keeps getting funnier. And a lot of it is just the delivery of some of the actors:
Larry: Are all black men who wear bow ties Muslims?
Wanda: Who gives a fuck?
But also the way he explores white liberal neurosis, particularly the fear that you’re going to say something wrong and be pegged as a racist for the rest of your life, or lose that cool pro-lesbian street cred. For me, as a neurotic white liberal, that stuff works because it addresses some basic fear I have.
I thought last night’s ep was pretty funny. I only came aboard last season, so all of these jokes are new to me. I definitely agree that Larry just taps into that fear everyone has of saying the most inappropriate things. I mean when he was asking Omar about whether black people are generally loud people because “they’re always the loudest group in the movie theater” I could feel my face turning red with embarrassment. Similarly, the fact that Larry had no problem arguing with a “handicapped” person over use of a bathroom stall, accusing a man with a stutter of not being disabled, and pretending to be disabled himself so he could jump the bathroom line is simultaneously horrible, fascinating, and funny. Everyone of us has thought the same thing. We just know better than to act on those thoughts. I thought the racist dog was a nice touch, but the twist at the end when he bypasses Omar to bark at Rosie just didn’t gel. Also, it took me a moment, but when I recognized the actress who played Jodie as Blossom I nearly lost it. Larry’s overzealous congratulations regarding Jodie turning straight was pure comedy as was his own overjoyousness at getting back into the lesbian community. “I’m back in!” I really liked this episode. Good stuff.
*Edit: Oh man, how could I forget about Larry’s ridiculous leap of logic that Cheryl saying “We need to talk” meant she wanted to get a divorce. That whole bit really had me laughing.
yeah last night’s episode was definitely back to what we usually see. wow did blossom ever get fat. haha that was comedy in itself for me. “i’m back in!” was priceless as well. it was also good seeing wanda show up again. “i’m not coming back to this hotel lobby with a racist dog”.
It’s got to be tough making sitcom plots out of Sam Fuller movies. Although I could see Shock Corridor making for a funny half-hour every week…
