Does anyone find this show funny? Dave Chapelle clearly thinks he’s the funniest motherfucker alive, which only highlights the fact that his shtick consists of talking in a shrill, grating voice and ending every sentence with “…bitch!”
Even worse are the promos for the new season running constantly on Comedy Central, in which Chapelle acts as though he’s some kind of iconoclast for “pushing the envelope with language.” It’s rare for a Comedy Central program to be renewed for a second season, so obviously someone’s watching. Do I just have a no sense of humor, or is this show as bad as I think it is?
I’ve never liked Chapelle before, but he’s surprising me with the consistent quality of his sketches here. They cause me to actually laugh, wich is rare.
His show is amazing. The “Real Movies” always are great, and the sketch with “And 1 Mix Tapes” with Tennis, Bowling, and Baseball remain one of the funniest things I have ever seen.
Chapelle’s show is kick ass. Once again, its VERY HARD to do a sketch comedy show on a regular basis. Chappelle’s Show season 1 had such a high standard of quality from the beginning episode (clinton biggsby, black white supremacist) and stayed high through out.
This is one of those rare shows that got funnier each episode. And that’s a hard thing to do when you start the show off with a documentary about a black white supremist.

Heck, everything was funny. This show is hysterical.

When I was a freshman at NYU (I can’t believe it was 10 years ago!), I saw a not yet famous Dave Chappelle doing stand-up in the fountain in Washington Square Park. He would come out every weekend when the weather was good and entertain anyone who’d listen. He’d always garner a huge crowd. Glad to see he finally getting the recognition he deserves. I think he has a lot of talent.
Chapelle should have been awarded with the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his masterful turn as Pinball in “Con Air.” If you want to watch an actor practice his craft at the top of his gifts as a comedian and charismatic figure, look no further than “Con Air.”

Another hilarious skit I just remembered was the Darth Vader interview when Chapelle (as a white guy) interviews him about being molested and he asks “show me on the doll where he touched you”. Then it shows stoned Yoda. “Good blow this is!” “Get down do you?”

Wow, that’s hysterical. I don’t know why I don’t love this show. Parodying the way Yoda talks. Why didn’t I think of that?
